what is the meaning of "happy"?

Ilana wrote in response to Paul:

When we are in a negative place LOA is going to offer us thoughts
that match where we are. Because they are a match to where we
are, these thoughts are going to feel perfectly justified and
appropriate in other words, they are going to feel good on this
level!

The same thought or action can match one desire (which feels
good) and contrast with another (which feels bad) or it can match
a desire (which feels good) and contrast with a belief (which
feels bad) or it can match a belief (which feels good) and
contrast with a desire (which feels bad...)

My request, Ilana....would you mind explaining this second paragraph using
some specific examples??

Thx.

Also, regarding Paul's choice for Freedom:

But I do know that trading in FREEDOM in order to
get HAPPY would be a bad deal for me at this point in my life.

Paul, I know you are on record in that same post as saying that you do want
both--Freedom AND Happiness. At the same time, I was also hearing that
perhaps some part of you also believes that you have to choose one or the
other.

As I read this, the immediate question I heard inside re this was:

What if you/we didn't have to choose one or the other?

What if you/we didn't Think we had to choose one or the other?

What if we could have both?

What if we knew that and BELIEVED it?

What if THAT felt like the most natural option?

What if that felt great?

What if you/we were asking NP to feed us thoughts and ideas about how easy
and wonderful this could be?

Of course, if we desire any/all of this, we can say to NP: MAKE IT SO!

Indeed, for me, Freedom DOES equal Happiness! That's my growing
Decision/Choice/Belief.

And, thank you Paul, for helping me see this more clearly.

Much love to all,

Pat asked for specific examples about situations when the same
thoughts can feel both good and bad.

I wrote:

When we are in a negative place LOA is going to offer us
thoughts
that match where we are. Because they are a match to where we
are, these thoughts are going to feel perfectly justified and
appropriate - in other words, they are going to feel good on
this level!

Example: My child is noisy and I am getting annoyed and I am
inspired to snap at the child and demand that she change her
behavior.

My response feels perfectly justified because it is a match to my
feeling of annoyance and I may feel relief when she responds by
stopping the noise. But my response was not a match to my desire
to be an uplifter and an allower, and it is bound to feel
uncomfortable on that level.

The same thought or action can match one desire (which feels
good) and contrast with another (which feels bad)
Abe gave me once the following example: suppose I want a $100,000
by next week and a friend offers that I join him in a bank
robbery. The thought robbing the bank is a match to my desire for
money (that part feels good) but it may not a match to other
desires that I hold, such as the desire for the approval of my
loved ones, the desire to play happy roles in the experience of
others, and the desire to stay out of jail... (these parts feel
rather uncomfortable!)

or it can match
a desire (which feels good) and contrast with a belief (which
feels bad)
The thought money is like air it always flows in to replace
whatever I spent is certainly a match to my desire and it
feels very nice on that level. But if it is in contrast with my
belief regarding my personal point of attraction, it may feel
more like who am I kidding! which is not so nice.

or it can match a belief (which feels good) and
contrast with a desire (which feels bad...)
The thought - I am going to volunteer to serve in the army may
feel very good to one who believes that it is the honorable thing
to do, but there is likely to be some discomfort as well due to
the contrast with his desire for freedom and safety.

With love,

Ilana-Ora
