If it is truely a D model, you got a free upgrade. I assume the acquisition board may have been replaced at some point. I've had good success repairing these buttons using the 'electric paint' from

I have resurrected these elastomer keypads by cleaning them and the PCB with 99% IPA and then recoating the carbon pads with 2 to three coats of Neolube No.2 colloidal graphite in an alcohol carrier.

You don't need to press the clear button. It switched to "normal" mode after a few seconds automatically. So this is no problem. I had a 754D with a few buttons not working. In my case it was solved
