Re: TM5003 fan noise / fan replacement
Is it possible your fan is bad.? Those AC fans just use bronze bearings which can get loud when they dry out.
I cringe a little when loud fans are simply replaced with quite ones as if that is the only parameter that is important. You need to think about airflow also. Look for an AC fan with similar airflow and find the quietest one. --Victor |

Re: TDS460 - time to boot
Sorry, it actually also is a 460A. And indeed it has option 13 and 1M. It sounds like it's in good shape? Radu.? On Sat, Nov 5, 2022 at 9:55 PM Sam Reaves <sam.reaves@...> wrote:

I have a TDS460A with the 1M option and it takes a while, basically like a PC with a digitizer. Sam Reaves

Re: TDS460 - time to boot
Actually, the HP54522A takes just about 5-6 seconds before it's up and running.? On Sat, Nov 5, 2022 at 9:51 PM Radu Bogdan Dicher via <vondicher=[email protected]> wrote: Hi all, |
TDS460 - time to boot
Hi all,
I recently repaired a TDS460, but I am a bit taken aback by its about 1 minute 10 seconds boot time to fully up - is this normal? My HP 54522A takes a mere maybe a dozen seconds to being able to perform measurements.? Once up, everything functions perfectly and in spec. The only less than ideal thing I am aware of is one of the internal batteries is not in best shape (the other one is good).? Thank you, Radu.? |
Re: [TekScopes] Fast edge pulse generator ...
Risetime and BW are related but NOT the same!
Read the TEK Vertical amplifier circuit concepts book. Your choice Depends on the desired max RT/BW being tested. We found the Best is the Leo Bodnar 40 pS pulser, L/60 The old TEK TD pulsers TU-5 or 152-0254-01 sometimes show at ham fleas or epay. Blown TD can be replaced with Russian clones. Needs a 50..100 V (slow rise) input drive. TEK PG506 CAL gen has a fast pulse output. Uses TM500/5000 mainframe. Beware that ANY cable/connector/adapter between the PG out and scope 50 Ohm in WILL affect the RT and BW. We directly attach Leo B BNC to the scope set at 50 Ohm. Rather than any cables, we use several BNC elbows, Tees, MM, FF adapters if needed. NO probes should be used! Jon Jon |

Re: [TekScopes] Fast edge pulse generator ...
The Leo is about the best thing going off the shelf and comes validated on his 11801. A 284 is also good but I? still waiting on doing an aliment on those for the lab. The 70ps edges are hard to deal with.? Anything sub 1ns is going to get interesting. And the further down in the ps the goal is the more exotic things will get.
