Hi,

I'm looking for a Tektronix 015-0672-50 50 Turn Current Loop to suit a TCP202 current probe.
Picture attached for reference.

If anyone has one of these they are willing to sell and ship to Japan, please let me know!

Re: TM5003 fan noise / fan replacement

I was hoping for some model numbers, Thanks!! .. The fans in TM506 and TM5000 series main frames are just too loud...

Re: TM5003 fan noise / fan replacement

I used the ETRI 141 Series Fan.? The 141-LV 0282 fan is EXTREMELY Quiet @ 28.0 dbA 55Cfm @ 1700 rpm and 1.9 mm Hg pressure.? There is a slightly louder version in the 141-LT 0282 somewhat louder @ 38.5 dbA and 74Cfm @ 2400RPM.and 3.6 mm Hg pressure.? These can be found used on occasion at good prices,? They are very expensive fans when bought new.? I am certain that there are some cheaper "knockoff;s" of these fans that could be found as well. ? ??

Re: TM5003 fan noise / fan replacement

I found a direct replacement fan that is very quiet. ?It was originally used in a CNC machine. ?I will need to look up the specifications when I get to the house. ?I don’t keep all those details in my memory bank. ?I have one installed in my TM506 and it is barely noticeable.
. ?

Re: TM5003 fan noise / fan replacement

a fan regulation, controlled by the output air temperature, would be nice.
Maybe the air flow of the original fan is known. The max. output air temperature at original air flow could be determined by a worst case test.
Whether all operating cases are then covered should be cleared. (Maybe every single bay must be temperature monitored too.)
IIRC continuous operation with free bays isn't intended (in worst cases).

Re: TM5003 fan noise / fan replacement

Roger,

I have two TM5006 that had the same issue. I swapped the 110V fan against a 220V model, plug&play.
With this mod the unit is close to silent with an airflow largely sufficient for normal climatic conditions.

cheers
Martin

Re: TM5003 fan noise / fan replacement

Add series power resistor or ( if AC fan) plastic cap to drop voltage.

beware of the airflow, if in hot location or high power load plug-ins.

TM5003 fan noise / fan replacement

Dear all,
My TM5003 fan seems like a jet plane taking off…
Is there a quieter option I could use as replacement?
I have seen a video of a guy that has replaced a TM5006 fan (110V) with a much quieter Low noise desktop fan.
Do you have any suggestion?
Best regards,
Roger

Welcome to the group.
That is an impressive collection of hardware.
Had most of the same except for the 7104 and the curve tracers prior to downsizing due to space limitations and retirement.

yes indeed....I owned ( note the past tense) 2 tek 475 so I could have 4 channel capabilities when rarely needed but it started as a back-up.....now 8 different varieties some rescued from going to trash....then there are the parts units and the TM500 series stuff to maintain them and then the HP stuff etc.......keep adding... seldom remove stuff...it is a horribly wonderful disease.LOL
my family cringes at all the equipment......

The number of parts scopes does not count, just like calories on a vacation.

The culprit was Q234, which was testing as two diodes.
I did not realized that the steps should be present at Q310 base, so I never checked this part of the circuit, especially because the DC bias was correct.
After replacing it by a 2N3565 the circuit began to work as expected.

Thank you very much to all, specially Ozan and Harvey for the continuous support.

Going back to calibration...

I will probably be back since as far as I remember I could not complete the Step Gen Output Z calibration?, but that is another story....

Congratulations for the repair.?

Also a critical note of the 577 calibration. If you are running in to difficulties in getting the vertical alignment to converge STOP and run through the procedure on the 177 its self. It has a separate calibration procedure. Then redo the vertical in the 577. Turns out there are 3 opamps in there. I chased my tail for about a week before I tracked that down.

Re: AFG5101, arb func gen, looking for manuals....?

It seems I made a typo... The number I provided for the Instrument Interfacing guide was actually for the Instruction Manual (that I have...)

Here are the correct numbers:

Instrument Interfacing Guide (part no. 070-6930-00)
Reference Guide (part no. 070-6761-00)

Re: SC 503 Enhance/Integrate removed on later units

Hi Ke-Fong Lin,
?
for me it's logical to change the PCB rev: something has changed.
Maybe the board material has changed too, but I think the point is that the Enhance/Integrate functionality has been removed. (But why?*) Layout changes cost money – they wanted smallest effort.
?
And yes, I think your "retrofit" idea could be possible. Your photos show the same boards, one just less populated.
?
*Maybe some parts became too expensive for too low sales. One unit was $2850 in 1981 and $3440 in 1984 w/o Enhance/Integrate.
Maybe Enhance/Integrate was removed, because buyers should buy something else/new.
Just guessing.
