Go to the 'other' group ie TekScopes rather than TekScopes2 and search on ' 2465b a5 board repair' and '2465b dac reference'.? Most of the front panel controls on the 2465 just set voltages which are read by the CPU and a ADC.? The real work is done by the DAC and a set of sample and hold circuits which drive the X and Y amplifiers, time bases, trigger circuits etc.? If the DAC reference voltages are wrong then almost everything misbehaves.? Don't be tempted to change the preset controls until you have fixed the DAC references, you will need to recalibrate later!? (resetting just the CRT grid bias is quite straightforward)

Your symptoms are typical of corrosion damage on the A5 board following leakage of electrolyte, resistors change value or go open circuit, PCB traces and vias? get damaged, and maybe other things.? You need to look carefully at the A5 board with good lighting and a magnifying glass or eye glass if you have one.? Also check the posts that you will find in TekScopes for the points where you can check the DAC references.

Hi every one!? To day I verified the low voltage power supply at j119. The all the voltages are within the limit. Visually all the electrolytic capacitors looks good on both power supply and A5 control boards. There is no sign of leakage. Ripples are within limit.? Today when I power on the scope self test stuck at add led.(it did pass self test yesterday) The message was TEST 05 FAIL 24 I search this test fail message on the net to find the possible cause. Everybody suggest to look into A5 control board specifically DAC312 and srounding baising component and leaky electrolytic capacitor. In my case there is no leaky capacitor, board looks fresh no Track damage. Measuring the DC voltage at Vref pin 14 and 15 of U2101 I found that? Vref voltage are in the mv range around 145mv. Do some one came across same situation? Please guide me to rule out problem in A5 board.? Thanks

That makes perfect sense, thank you, Jared. I assume, once I recover my adapter (just realized it's currently?on loan), I need to run the commands via Python (the only way I know).? Radu.?
The scope doesn't care what GPIB adapter you use, if it works on other gear, it'll work on the scope.

You only need the specific National Instruments GPIB card for running the Tektronix calibration software.
?
All other GPIB functions can be done with any working GPIB adapter.

Thanks Dave. This is a start. That's the transducer (I have three, of varying pressures) and the probe assembly, the P6610.? Definitely a Tektronix product though that's all I know.

I wonder if the cable you received was a Chinese knock-off ?

Jon, recently I ordered a cable from a distributer I received a sub-par non Tektronix cable even though I ordered 012-0482-00.
I returned that cable and contacted Tek tech to be sure if I ordered another cable I would receive the correct type.
Their search determined the problem and the cause, they informed me of the circumstances and have supplied me with the corrected cable
as 012-0482-01.
No, I had no reason to test an Amphenol 36" cable assembly made with Southwire RG-58/U cable $17.00 new in bag as an 012-0482-00? for $88.00+ as it was obviously incorrect. The surprise was that Tektronix had a mislabeled drawing and had some RG-58/U made and in stock.
As I said this has been corrected, no further information was passed to me.

I recently acquired 2465B.
At power on the self test passes with no trace.?
Short description about the scope:
It has serial no b065557
It has smd in A5 board.
?
After searching in the net I came across a point that adjusting grid bias trace can be made visible. Accordingly I got the trace with following issues :
Intensity control has no effect.?
Focus control has effect.?
Read out intensity has effect
Scale illumination works
CH1 and CH2 vertical position can be changed within only one division mark while
CH3 and CH4 vertical position can be changed from lower to upper side.?
Screen frame is shifted 1division

And one more thing in the first quarter of the screen there is a message:
A1 - 02 v?? This number changes according to the position of CH1 volt/div switch
I have the service manual downloaded. I? have been going through manual for last few days.?
If some body has idea where where to look for the fault. By the way I wsa able to fix my 2230 5 years back using this group. Thank?

I've also reflowed this morning the U200 solder joints, per an EEVBlog suggestion (which made great sense - I think this is infamously developing cold solder joints over time).

Jared also recommended I read the errors over GPIB, so I can see the whole text body (which doesn't wrap on the scope screen). I'd appreciate a bit of guidance on that aspect - it may go quite a bit off topic, but I think it's critical in this pursuit, and may benefit others either way.

The issue I'm having is I have an NI USB adapter I could use, but I haven't been able to install the NI software on my bench computer. This is because I already have the R&S VISA on there, and that's successfully serving a xyphro adapter which allows me to run some py scripts I wrote and collect readings from my 8.5 digit Prema meter over GPIB.?
?
If anyone has good experience with VISA, GPIB, etc., I'd really appreciate getting untuck from this.
?
Alternatively, I may try today to use the xyphro I know already works and see if that will allow me to read the entire error text body.

Jeff: All of my 012-0482-00/01 (have ! 10-15!) are RG-223/U cable.
I have never seen one made with RG-58U.
Do you know the exact specs, eg VSWR, frequency resp, ?

P6610 physcial measurement amplifier
In my collection of probes, I have a P6610 physical measurement amplifier and three P6610 pressure transducers. ?I don't have any documentation and a search of the usual sources has come up empty. ?Wondering if anyone here knows anything about this probe or, better yet, has some documentation they would be willing to share.

Due to a mistake on a drawing Tektronix had 012-0482-00/01 cables made with RG-58/U cable.
They have now corrected the error and have the 012-0482-00/01 made with RG-223/U cable.

jlacerte: that's the exact direction I started heading from a point on. I realized the "short" between pins?2 and 3?of the SRAMs was not a solder?bridge, but something internal to one of the chips. I was actually?measuring a little under 10 ohms between those address buses (A14 and A16).?
I got to this?last night and I have a quick update?on this. I've replaced at this point seven of the eight SRAM chips on that address bus (U201-U208, only U204 is still the original part). This is because once I replaced U203, the low resistance condition between A14 and A16 (a bit less than 10 ohms) ceased occurring. I am pretty confident this was an issue and it was causing part of the errors?(those directly?pointing to "U20X" ICs).? I still have a failed acquisition module.?
I currently have two errors: - ERROR: diagnostic test failure digHFStepDiag
- ERROR: diagnostic?test failure digDataFormatDiag, ERROR!!BYTE mode, in demux 200, i=4... (the rest of it is out of view; can anyone recall how to wrap/unwrap error codes text?).

I have a 754D and a 784D.? I really like these scopes except for the display size. I occasionally will hook up a 13" to 15" color display and set on the edge of the bench while I am working.

If I remember right there are a bunch of mods that can be done with jumpers, caps and recalibration. You can turn a 754D into a 784D.? May try this one day but I have a good working 784D already.? You may want to look into the upgrades once you have gotten all the fixes done to your current scope.

Use Dolph CC1105 Dip, vacuum oven dry
Low VOC, not a varnish but a resin.
MG Chemicals
4228A ¨C Red Insulating Varnish is OK for spot touchup but cannot full impregnate the entire transforner.

I didn¡¯t impregnate my 453, I only laid a bead of corona dope at each end (and let it set) to keep wire from sinking to lower layers. Still working, years later.
