Tek 2225 that wont power up after a knock :-(
I've had this 2225 for quite a while and it has always worked flawlessly. Then, yesterday, it was standing on the rear feet (screen upwards) and got knocked and it toppled and the handle struck a

Re: 454 fireworks
John, The -12V rail is spot on, and so is the +12. I did do a quick and dirty diode test on Q1197, which showed two good diode drops, but that was in circuit and at low. I suppose it could be breaking

Re: For someone who knows dual concentric pots better?
You could just rewire the existing dual pot so that the working fine adjustment becomes the coarse adjustment and replace the non-working pot wth two 5.1k (or even 4.7k) fixed resistors in series.

Re: Tek 2465 (1st gen) - help with A5 board troubleshooting?
Hi Paul, If I recall correctly, the pins are a plastic attachment pin, which has a coarse thread. I think I recall that I grab the head with a pair of sharp diagonal cutters, and pry. It will rotate

Re: 454 fireworks
Let's hope it's not Q1197 gone s/c as it's a pig to replace (mechanically). With the EHT unpowered at least you can trouble-shoot the PSU. NB the -12V is the reference for both +75 and +12V rails so

Re: 2465 time base knob issue
I think I fixed it, but I'm a bit puzzled by how I fixed it. I tried loosening and retightening the two set screws on the main knob, doing so in an "unbalanced" manner. After a couple of tries the

Re: CRT anode discharge
Hi Gordon, Didn't anyone you worked with, at some point, use the synonymous terms "dielectric soak" or "dielectric absorption"? If not they sure should have. Both are pertinent here and oh, so,

The dog definately survived. I think the fact the zap was 15 KC (skin effect) and the cabinet being? wood kept the internal current low. ?? I have never heard of dogs or cats being kiled by TVs,

What might be even more amazing about that story, is that you didn't have to scrap toasty dog out of that set. Seriously, a dog that small is lucky to be alive after that! Sean

For someone who knows dual concentric pots better?
Hi, again, I am still wondering about the "Trace Position" Front Panel Pot on my Sony/Tek 335. While there appears to be no trace when the 335 is powered on - most likely this shows a failure in a HV
