Dave, Since I am new to this forum I am not sure how to have these pictures posted or the usual protocols for doing so.? Please advise me on this. But, I am including a drawing and two pictures to this reply. ? First, the drawing I title "Drawing".? This shows a side view of the stack consisting of the U800 with its metalic tab protruding at one end held by a nut and washer.? The nut is slightly taller than the U800 body so I fashioned an aluminum shim that is oversized and sticks beyond the U800 body.? I bent the shim up on the ends so it catches more airflow. ? Second, a photo of the stack as it sits on the board.? Labeled "Another View".? In
the photo you cna see clearly how the shim sits between the?U800 and the heat sink and how the heat sink is larger than the U800 and notched to clear?nearby compnents.? You can also see traces of the heat sink grease I put between the U800 and the shim and between the shim and the heat sink.? You can also see that my hand wasnt as steady as it could have been but it looks better in real life than it does in this picture. ? Finally, a picture labeled "U800 Heat Sink" of the same stack taken from the other side and showing the clearince to the?time base?sweep adjustment variable cap.? I was concerned to give that cap adequate clearance so as to not alter the current calibrations. ? My solution is not nearly as elegant as yours but it seems to wrk very well. ? Mac? From: Dave C

Thanks, Dave Second, I built a heat sink for U800 by modifying an old heat sonk from a computer video board. It was messsy to cut notches for adjacent parts but it was worth it. I have a heat sink that fits well and seems to work well. It screws to the same screws that hold the U800 but I was careful to no overtighten. I can post or mail pictures if anyone is interested. |
