Hello all... here is the issue.
I bought it on ebay and recieved it and it worked fine. I looked in
the help log and it stated 430hrs run time.... yes low, but I dont
think it was true.
after 2 days I powered it up and got a fail on the ccd during the self
test.
It was a 7430 /ccd/pd-offset/ch2-1 to be exact. Ran the ext diag and
then got a CCD Fail and a PA fail.
I let the unit run for a 0.5 hours or so and did a run test (ext diag)
till passes during this time and the unit finally passed.
turned the unit off (let it cool overnight) and powered it back up
today and I got a CKSUM-NVRAM fail with many of the self
test(1000-8000) blank (untested). I wound guess theyre blank because
the scope did not run these test because it relies on values stored in
ram (from what Ive read in this group).
I let the scope warm back up for a few minutes, re-ran the ext diag
and all passed (including the nvram) but the 7430 CCD/PD-OFFSET/CH2-1
which failed. The 8132 /PA/OFFSET/ENV-SP-SLOW CH2 was failing a bit
for the first few minutes but now passes.
I have also noticed during the self test the crt display flicker
slightly. I wonder if this is normal or if the caps in the power
supply may be bad as I guess is common on a unit this age.
Now the thing is... even with these errors I can still use the scope,
both channels and it seems to work fine. All I use it for is my DIY
synthesizer build to see if Im getting signals where I should (nothing
precise).
My question is I wonder if I have a bad DS1230AB NVRAM (bad battery
to be exact) and not a bad CCD and PA that are causing these errors?
