Re: All Composite W10 anyone???
Sounds/looks like a good W10 project. What chassis is the MB OM617 engine sitting in?

Hi Bernard A friend and I just brought a W10 project home last week from another member in Indiana. I'm near Aurora and he's in Bath. Your welcome to come take a look. It's pretty ugly now but the

Re: Design Idea for Access paneling
I have the triangular access panel on the bottom also.? The slightly oval hole is where the elevator tubes (where the horns are attached) exit the fuselage.

Greg, Sounds like you are progressing well.? It does seem to take forever.? I made my access panels similar to what Mike mentioned.? I also used polycarbonate? (Lexan) for the "ring" and wrapped

Mike thank you for the feedback! It sounded like it would work, but I'd rather be sure and check w those who have experiance first.

Re: Sheet metal questions
Dan-I would use minimum number of blind rivets-just enough to line up the door skin. My door rivets are working to the point I am considering new door skins with a maximum of 6 rivets each door. I did

Design Idea for Access paneling
I have a newfound respect for what everyone says when they say they are "90% finished but 90% left to do"!!!! I feel like I should have been finished with my build last spring!! I can safely say that

Re: Sheet metal questions
There was nothing scientific about how I tested the glue. 3M does publish some strength info but I'm just one step above a caveman so I was more interested in more of a common sense result. I would

So this was a ¡°peel strength¡± test, not a ¡°shear¡± test, right? And I do think peel strength is the parameter of interest. If so, good info . . . qualitatively anyway ¨C i.e. a comparative

Re: Sheet metal questions
Excellent data, thanks for sharing it! I intend to construct my doors with 3/4" square 6061-T6 covered with 0.020" 2024-T3. I wonder if this would yield similar results?

Re: Sheet metal questions
In the event that anyone was curious about a couple of the glue options for bonding the aluminum skin to the door frames, I made up a little sample to test the 3M 2216 vs the 3M 38315 panel bonding

Re: W-8 Lyc engine mount BOM needed
Just beware that having the engine an inch forward will really effect the CG of the plane! Check the real weight of the engines, not the published weights. John Haedtler
