Keith, tape is not a good idea on the cowl, if it comes loose will be ingested and may become a fire hazard. Whatever you use besure it is well secured. Farmer John

Two different ways to go for oil temp. Regulate the flow of oil with a fuel shutoff valve connected to a control. Or regulate the flow of air either into or out of the cooler with an airflow
