Taclog hangs-WinXP and PTT (interface)

Here a question:

Q: Running Taclog in a Windows XP window, everything is ok, but if
activate PTT/CW keying choosing an Interface (Type 2 for LPT),
Taclog hangs if TAB is pushed or hangs during a CW CQ call
(ctrl-F5). Also CW is like "hand made", sound is stucking...
Any Idea?

TACLog - development

Bo, OZ2M

Dear longtime TACLog User

Ten years ago I issued the first pre-release of TACLog. Since then the
program has developed beyond my own expectations both when it comes to my
own programming experience, features and not least popularity.

Today, I think TACLog is the most used VHF and Above Contest Log Program
thanks to you.

I appreciate all of it and the support and feed back I have received from
all users.

But, time has come to an end for TACLog. I have decided that ten years is
enough for me on the TACLog project. I have recently put back up my antennas
after three years and is enjoying it in full. Several new fun projects
emerge from this and from the development of TACLog:

- a PIC16F84 sequencer+"K" that I completed a couple of months ago.
- other TACBox II gadgets such as voice keyer
- rotator interfaces
all made in PIC-microcontrollers.

Like with TACLog the above will be available free of charge to the ham
community and this time also the source code.

When I started TACLog I needed a good VHF Contest Logging Program, I got it
I think. Now I need a good day-to-day logging program. Perhaps this will one
day see the light of day.

Bo, OZ2M

By request you can receive the last release of TACLog. It is also named 1995
but has the ability to show the calling station's name found in the
TACLOG.NAM file. This file and new names can be manipulated using the
NAMES.EXE file. Please note that there is no support for this intermediate
version!

PPS: The TACLog S/W will now be available on direct requests.

Contest VHF Del Sud - 50 MHz

Bo, OZ2M

Hi

If you plan to participate in the above contest on Sunday, 18th 7-17 UTC,
you need to change the TACLOG.DXC file since IT9 counts as a separate DXCC!

You can also use the TACLOG.DXC file enclosed where I have made the
necessary changes. If so do the following:
1) Rename DATABASE\TACLOG.DXC to another name, e.g. TACLOG_NORMAL.DXC
2) Copy the enclosed TACLOG.DXC to DATABASE\TACLOG.DXC

After the contest rename back TACLOG_NORMAL.DXC to TACLOG.DXC.

Good luck
Bo, OZ2M

Re: EDI Format 5 Cabrillo

What have we done wrong in marketing REG1TEST?

Don't underestimate the success of REG1TEST. It's
now used for the majority of VHF log submissions in
the Nordic countries and the Netherlands. I would
estimate that to be in the order of 2000 log
submissions per year - most of them troublefree.

Compare that to the rejection rate of CABRILLO
logs.

Re: EDI Format 5 Cabrillo

Bo, OZ2M

Hello Terry and Roger

Puuuuuhhh, this one of the tough ones. Cabrillo has the disadvantage that it
is an open/variable format, i.e. "every" contest has its own QSL record
formating. What I did was to implement the "ARRL VHF contests" and "CQ VHF
Contest":

Cabrillo QSO template for ARRL VHF contests and CQ VHF Contest
--------info sent------- -------info
rcvd--------
QSO: freq mo date time call grid call
grid
QSO: ** yyyy-mm-dd nnnn *** * ***
*
QSO: 50 PH 1997-09-13 1804 NJ2L FN12fr KB2DMK
FN12

789

See more here:

And the missing of the signal report is due to the fact that these are not
required in IARU Region 2 to make a complete QSO.

From the above link and the RSGB site nine different formats can be
identified. I am not sure how to tackle this as a new S/W release will be
required every time a new QSO template required for a contest.

I could make a selection box to select one of the nine, currently know ones,
though.
I wonder if it is possible to make a QSO template tool inside TACLog that
will encompass most contests? Any ideas?

Have we fallen into a discussion of the width of rail tracks?

73
Bo, OZ2M

I must admit that I am still very much in love with REG1TEST :-)
It was endorced by the IARU Region 1 VHF Committee back in 1994 but it still
outperformes all the others. It is rigid but a closed specification.
What have we done wrong in marketing REG1TEST?

Bo,
I have just used Taclog V995 to log a Contest and tried to create an
EDI output file using Option 5 Cabrillo format.
The resultant output File contains most of the required data fields

Am I doing something wrong with the data conversion or is this a
known problem with TL995, and can it be resolved.?

I've just tried Mike Wooding for an answer to a problem I have with TacLog
but my e-mail has been returned as undeliverable, so can you help, please?

When converting to Cabrillo EDI format both incoming and outgoing reports
are omitted. I am using 1.995 and I have tried this with two logs on
different bands with the same result. RST and contest number are both set
to 1, ie compulsory, under contest settings. Have you any suggestions,
please?

I use a spare band, 220MHz, to log a few HF contests which TacLog handles
OK, and need them in Cabrillo format as the RSGB asks for that format for
HF
contests now.

Thanks

TACLog 1,995 released

Bo, OZ2M

Hello TACLog User

I have just released TACLog version 1,995 today, 2002-10-13. It is a
manitenance release taking care of two bugs:
- QSL management for BOTH sent and received cards.
- VOE.EXE file bug resulting that VOEs could not be edited if not already
inserted.

Also ADIF files are now per default named .ADI.

Are you already a member on the TACLog Reflector or the TACLog Group? If not
then look here:

(Also stores tl####(u).zip files as this site might be provide faster and
more reliable service than QSL.NET.)

Good luck
Bo

Re: Windows 2000 and XP - Code page fix

pa5dd

The code page fix is only needed if you Windows
keyboard setting is set up for a keyboard that is
incompatible with the standard American code page.
English & Dutch users for example will have no
problems.

It seems to be a bug, that even though the right
codepage should be loaded via
config.nt/autoexec.nt, when a DOS program is
launched, it does in fact not happen.

Anyway using this batch file is a fast fix to the
problem. Another fix is to set your Windows
keyboard setting to English(US), but then you loose
all those nice regional letters :-(

- Hard disk file system is NTFS. If you have a

It seems we had a old taclog.dxc in the database directory,

did put a new one (also) in the database directory and after
that no more problems where found during logging of YO & YU calls.
I couldn't find any general recount key-combination in taclog,
so we switched some details using edit in taclog to get the counts
for the previous logged YO's & YU's, after that is was O.K.

Question: is there a general recount/recalc in Taclog ?
If NO, that would be a nice option in the near future.
If YES, how do I recalc ?
