I was only able to spend a few hours on Saturday but had a wonderful chat with Al Nagler, always a highlight for me, before he was presented with a lifetime achievement award by the regional astro league. He was demo-ing his PUNCH mission optics, amazing. The new Type 7s are awfully purty….
AP had 2 new refractors and a new mount to drool over, the Stellafane booth was hopping, and ZWO was simply packed. There was an interesting travel dob caught my eye with a clever magnetic secondary holder.? I kept count and heard the dreaded T word said 16x out loud. Saw lots of friends and couldn’t resist picking up a baby SeeStar to carry back to Fiji later this week.? Missed you guys there! Jay |
Sounds like I missed some fun. But it’s been so long since I’ve enjoyed some star time, I couldn’t get enthused about going.?

开云体育Jerry, Alan and I went yesterday. We ran into Leslie at the Skywatcher booth. Got a chance to meet some of my favorite You Tubers and still managed not to spend any money. We heard that John had an open wallet, so can’t wait to hear what he got :)

Bob, it was great seeing you and your son there. So tell all! What shinning new toys did you pick up at this year's NEAF? LB On Fri, Apr 4, 2025, 20:07 cogzal via <cogzal=[email protected]> wrote:

开云体育Yes, Leslie!? Always a pleasure to see you :)? ? Shiny new toys?? ? I had my eye (pun intended)? on a 22 mm Ethos eyepiece and an adjustable coma corrector from Nagler.? ?At almost half? price? they were hard to resist.? But, with cash only required,? my ATM card did not work there! ? ? ? ?There was also a 16" truss tube scope from Explore Scientific that interested me.? More portable and a larger mirror than my aging Odyssey.? ? ? ? ? ?In hindsight, since I am a strictly visual observer, and my travel schedule is allowing me so few opportunities to observe, its probably best I didnt drop big money on those items.? ? Huge sigh.? ? ? ? ? ? ?My son and I had a great time tho.? ?We attended two seminars. One on the search for life on other planets and one on the Apollo and Artemis space programs.? We both especially enjoyed the former.?? ? ? ? ? How NEAF has changed since I first attended many years ago.? ?Sooo many options for Astrophotography now...??
