Although I¡¯ve sent out individual email receipts for the TAAS dues received so far, I thought I¡¯d double the acknowledgement by listing our current dues paying members here. Our current members are, in order of opening envelopes: Leslie B, Amy S, Jay D, Max M, John N, Jeff D, Dot M, George B.
I will continue to send out receipts and if you don¡¯t get one after a week or so of sending your dues, please let me know.
TAAS dues can be sent to me, made out to TAAS or Thames Amateur Astronomical Society for $15. Thanks.
George

Re: Photo Notifications #photo-notice

Lee,
Thanks for the troubleshooting and putting together all the pieces of this puzzle. It came together great.?

John,
The AZGTi weight capacity is limited by the strength of the motors and gearing. The counterweight serves to balance the load on the tripod and keep it from tipping over when the wind gusts. Much like the newer strain gage mounts. We should consider hanging a weight under the tripod head or a spreader sling from the legs like this.

JJC Tripod Weight Stone Bag,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C8MZJPZ7?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I have one on my tripod to hold the battery. It has a loop to hang a weight from the bottom of the sling. Cheap (~$15) scope insurance.?

Re: TAAS and SAS

I'm up for a joint get together. I also support finding a place and time when wherever we meet is not crowded ortho noisey.

All the best for 2025,
Leslie

Our February meeting would be a day or two beforehand, so this would an alternative to it, unless there is some immediate business.
What does everybody think?

Despite trying to find a simple way for people to pay I am once again going to ask anyone who wants to join TAAS as a dues paying member to send a check or money order to me, made out to either TAAS or Thames Amateur Astronomical Society. Of course you can pay in person with cash at any event I¡¯m at. The mailing address is:

I will send email receipts. While the dues are $15 per year anyone wishing to give an additional amount may do so and it will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Mark & Deb! A special RABBIT RABBIT for 2025 January 1st and a Happy New Telescope Year to you all!? I just read in the TTS note that a new mount will be forthcoming in 2025. Sorry George but hey, nothing wrong with a new big brother, right?
