Re: End of an era

And plane tickets and packer shippers and a tolerance for missing parts with no recourse to anyone.?

I suppose if you lived nearby it could be worth picking through it all but it’s an online bid so it’s sight unseen and anything you actually wanted could be bid out already.
?
And very poorly documented goods. Generic descriptions; what looks to me like some stuff is reboxed goods. Maybe someone else’s equipment (repairs; etc) mixed in but unidentified? (Has anyone heard of anyone getting contacted to get their repairs back? Or did Meade carefully clear that all out in advance?)

As unmanaged in liquidation as they were as a going concern. Caveat emptor.?

I'd be interested in going in on a binocular lot of say 7x50 or so.?
I would want one, so 1/4 of the overall cost of a lot of 4, say.
I'm not an equipment guy, like so many other club members, so I would leave it to youse to select the equipment lot/s to bid on.

Anyone else? Maybe some of our newer members need a start-up tool?

Yes, very sad.? Until the layoffs, I was seriously comparing Meade's SCTs with Celestron's attempting to ascertain which way to go for something of much longer FL than my Esprit. So sorry to see them go.

Re: Happy holidays to you

Thanks, George. ?I have some Gerbing heated gloves waiting for me when I get home from Maine. ?They may be too bulky for doing astronomy and photography in the cold but I thought it would be worth a try. ?If they’re too bulky, I’ll exchange them for the heated glove liners. ?I’ve had one of their heated vests for a long time, and I often wear it when doing astronomy in colder weather. ?The battery doesn’t hold a charge very well anymore and of course, it’s no longer available.

Happy holidays to you

Hi all

Just wanted to wish you all a merry Christmas and happy new year. I hope to see you a lot more next year. My knee and hip issues kept me from participating much this year. I’m starting some treatment in January and I’m hoping that will get me back in action.?

Hope to see you when the weather warms up a bit.?

Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, January 16. More details to follow in 2025.?

Re: Thursday Holiday TAAS Meeting

I feel your pain, Geoff. This is only my/our third FIAT but I've had 16 Alfas and oh how I could tell stories!

They only used 20w-50 weight oil so I used to put a light bulb covered with a carpet under the hood just to start my '75 Alfetta sedan to keep the oil from being sludge.

The CT Alfa Romeo Owners Club used to rent Lime Rock every year? - sometimes sharing the track with the FIAT/Lancia club.? Maybe you were a participant? This would have been in the early '80's through like '89 when I stopped being President of CT-AROC.

I *loved* that car - but it was a maintenance headache.? Good luck!

I don't care if you put a limit on equipment costs as long as it's in decent, usable condition.?

7 PM?? Can you make a reservation there? Honestly, I don't know.?

Weather permitting.? My FIAT is leaking antifreeze so it won't be a very late night for me.
