Submitting paperwork
Hi everyone,
The judging program has made a couple changes regarding your submission of paperwork prior to applying to the regular program. We¡¯ve been getting some really old paperwork, and if you are currently judging, one would hope that your more recent paperwork would have less errors anyway. We will no longer review any paperwork that is more than a year old. There may be a few exceptions to this, such as having never submitted any to us, so please contact me privately if you have a question about this. If we have reviewed older paperwork of yours and it was free of efforts, that still counts toward your 10 error free sets.? A second change is that you may only submit a maximum of 15 shows toward your ten error free. Remember, if a clerk brings back something for you to correct during the show, make sure you put the white copy back on the yellow copy before you make the change, so that it is correct on both copies. It¡¯s not fair to our paperwork reviewers to go over 20 or more sets of paperwork just to see the same errors over and over again. I have attached the most recent marking a judge¡¯s book pdf, so you can review it if you have questions.? The breed experiences are an important part of the application process, so we would also encourage everyone to do these with as many breeds as possible. If you are going to be at the International, I¡¯d be glad to help you find some breeds to work with. I should be free on Sunday, unless someone cancels and I end up judging the show.? I¡¯m also still hearing that some of the associates, and I don¡¯t know any names on this, are showing cats to qualify that are no either not good examples of the breed, not well presented in terms of grooming, or do not have show temperaments. I¡¯m very disappointed to hear this. If you want future invitations to judge and the respect of the exhibitors, you need to be better than good in all aspects. Please let me know if you have any questions Thanks, Anne Mathis? |
CFA Judges Code of Ethics

Applying to the regular program
Hi everyone,? I know some of you are working on getting things together to apply to the regular program, and this is a reminder that if you plan on applying to the regular Judging program, and want to take advantage of section 5.2, you must provide us your 10 shows for review.? Remember, these must be without any errors.? Please do not wait until you send your application in as it takes time to review these and we wouldn¡¯t want you to miss the deadline of six weeks prior to the board meeting because were unable to review your paperwork. Please don¡¯t send them all in one document as it¡¯s sometimes really hard to find a way to open them. Don¡¯t forget evaluations, please.? Thanks, Anne |
My mistake!
Hi everyone,
Glad to see lots of you on the presentation today. I will get certificates out shortly. In my email a while back, I mentioned that you had until next February to have three assignments in. That is incorrect. You have until February 2025 to have those three assignments, and exceptions can be made if necessary. That being said, there are several of you that have either not judged at all, or only once or twice. I have no way of knowing if that is by choice, or you aren¡¯t being invited. If you are not interested in remaining on the panel, please let me know.? Hope to see you all somewhere soon! Please contact me if you have questions or concerns.? Thanks, Anne Mathis |
BAOS
Hi everyone,
I see quite a few of you will be attending the BAOS in Hong Kong next month, and that¡¯s very exciting. I believe at some point, the associate program may be discontinued, and I¡¯m glad to see that many of you are working toward the regular program. I¡¯ll be excited to see you all there! There are still some spots open, but if you are considering attending, I wouldn¡¯t delay very long.? A few of you have either not judged at all, or only a very few times. If this pertains to you, would you mind privately letting me know why, or if you have upcoming assignments? If you are interested in being licensed again next February, you really need to have judged 3 shows in the last year. If there¡¯s a reason you haven¡¯t, can you please contact me? Hoping everyone is doing well. Can¡¯t wait to see you somewhere! Anne Mathis |
A gentle reminder
Hi Everyone,
Hope to see some of you at the Annual. If you are there, please come to the Judge¡¯s workshop Thursday night. It will earn you CEUs, which you need to earn toward your continuing education report cards that are due every five years. More on that after the annual.? Just a reminder that judges may not be in the benching area before a show you are judging. It¡¯s probably also a good idea to save conversations with your friends until after the show, too. It just doesn¡¯t look good. If you have any questions about any of this, please let me know. Thanks,? Anne |

Judge¡¯s workshop
Hi everyone,
The annual is approaching quickly, and I wanted to send out a reminder about the workshop to be held Thursday evening from 6-8 PM. I don¡¯t know the room number yet, but will send it out when I have it. I believe a light dinner will be provided, and thanks to CFA for that!? We have several topics to cover, and the agenda is attached. Looking forward to seeing you there? Anne Mathis? |
A few things
Hi Everyone,?
I hope you are all well, and enjoying judging. I have a few reminders for you. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me.? First of all, you should not be posting pictures of yourself on social media at a show showing yourself holding a cat you judged at that show. ? This gives exhibitors the feeling that you are showing preference toward that cat, and the judging program committee gets complaints about this all the time. Please only post a picture of yourself behind the table, or one of yourself with your clerk or the other judges. Those would be appropriate. If you have put pictures up like that recently, please take them down. Secondly, please be aware that as a licensed judge, you can not clerk in the specialty you judge in. That was fine when you were a trainee, but it is against the rules as a judge. You may still master clerk. I had a disturbing email this morning about some AJs who exhibited recently in China. If you are exhibiting, you need to be sure that the cats you put in the ring are very good examples of their breeds, and are presented in excellent condition. Cats that have a disqualification, cats that are obese or too thin, aggressive cats, poorly groomed cats, or any cats that make your judgement look questionable should not be exhibited by anyone in the judging program. You need to understand that as a member of the judging program, all eyes are on you. I¡¯m not saying that something you show needs to be national win quality, but it should be a cat that could grand at the very least. I was not given specific names of anyone who exhibited these cats, and did not ask for that information.? Lastly, it would be helpful to know of any one of you that are looking to apply to the regular program. I¡¯d be happy to make sure you are on the right track, and it¡¯s helpful for the committee to know who is thinking about applying. I know of some now, but if you could let me know, it would be appreciated. The updated rules for application are on the CFA website, but I¡¯m happy to help out wherever I can.? I hope to see some of you next week at the Annual! Thanks, Anne Mathis |

CFA insurance card
Hi everyone, In case I haven¡¯t sent this before, here is the CFA insurance information for judges.
