Backing plate for port side winch
Hello everyone.? I am almost done with my deck refinishing project.? One of the last things I need to do is re-bed the jib/genoa winches.? I have excellent access to install a backing plate on the starboard side as the quarter berth is directly below the winch.? Port side is another story.? My Tartan still has its cool box installed and it blocks access to that area.? My question to the group is this:? Will I be able to install a backing plate for the port side winch without removing the cool box?? I was thinking I might be able to reach it through the port side cockpit locker by cutting through the ply wood divider there.? Interested to hear your thoughts. |
I looked at mine today. I agree. That seems to be to only way to get to it, without taking out the Icebox. I am super insulating the Ice box and dividing it into two sections. The inside and the outside. on the inside section I am installing a Homemade Peltier cooler under the inside part. I use the outside part a lot. And just recently I used the inside part as well.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýVarious opinions about this, but I wouldn¡¯t hesitate to remove the ice box. It is huge, right next to the muffler, and often leaks. We built a large storage cupboard in that spot and installed a small ac/dc Engel fridge in the quarter berth. Alternatively a good sized cooler would do the trick.?Marty Marty Levenson Poseidon?
