Height problem possible
First let me say, of all the groups and fb pages that I follow, this is my favorite as there are no attitudes and everyone is so quick to help.
I’m trying to put a 2005 Impreza 2.5 in my 82 Westy. I’m using the Kennedy engine support and adapter to my vw 4 speed transmission. After looking at my motor and the setup in my buddy’s 80 with a 2.2 I have concerns about my setup. His has little to no room between the top of the intake manifold and the engine bay lid. He is also using the same hanger and adapter from Kennedy. Mine looks to be a good bit taller from the block. Is this something that I need to address or is it not an issue. Thanks in advance. I hope to put the motor in on the 14th of December. |
I had an EJ2.5? L engine from a A 2005 OUTBACK? put in my 1991 Carat with auto tranny. Used a SmalL Car installation kit. There was an intake manifold/engine lid clearance issue initially?but the mechanic that put it in for me solved the problem by making a slightly different spacer with the mount and trimmed out just a little bit of insulation/sound?deadening material from the lid. Worked just fine. I did not use the Small Car tranny adaptor but opted for one that was a bit bigger from OutFront.? I had to use 2”x2” square stock to make a spacer for my Kennedy carrier bar, I’m running a 2006 Impreza EJ253 in a previously air cooled (1982) Vanagon. I was running an EJ22 for years and didn’t need the spacers, but the EJ25 definitely needed them because the intake and all associated components are taller.
