EJ22 ECU Chattering

SoquelDude All Messages By This Member #84613 Hi! ? I've been trying to find out a lousy chattering noise from under the bench seat for a while now, and think I may have found it. ? I have a 1990 Westy with an EJ22 conversion. On cold start, there's no noise from the back, but after the engine, then I start hearing a chattering noise. Thi happens at idle and low acceleration from idle. It sounds like it may be coming from the ECU. Has anybody else had this problem? Is this a way for the ECU to tell me it's about to fail? ? Thanks!

Wayne Sitarz All Messages By This Member #84615 Edited ? ? ? ? If it is the ECU it could be a bad battery. How old is yours. Have it checked out. Try another battery. Check your ignition and battery wiring to the ECU.

SoquelDude All Messages By This Member #84618 开云体育 Wayne, thanks for the link. But in that thread, if the ECU was constantly rebooting, then the car would be bucking like hell, which it’s not. It runs real smooth. ? It may be one of the 2 other relays (fuel pump and starter) that are next to the ECU. Luckily, I have 2 relays that I can use to replace them.
