Re: Warren’s Conversion

He is asking about the green one in this photo. It is Aisin, which makes the components for Subaru, Toyota, and others. I’m not sure about why it is green?? But I have read (or saw a video) that that toothed pulley is the most common failure point in the timing system on SOHC Subaru engines).?

What is this green cogged pulley on an Aisin kit? What is the brand? Is it still 'double bearing' like I believe the black colored pulley was?

Re: Subaru Wiring conversion

Problem solved.
Turns out it was a DRL resistor and an AT resistor. No wires going to intake manifold.
Thanks

Re: Subaru Wiring conversion

Google the part numbers.

Re: Warren’s Conversion

I mounted mine on the Right side firewall near the D pillar opening. Long hose runs but it worked.

Would help to post the wire colors most likely?

Hello,
I'm currently working on a harness conversion from a 2004 Impreza, EJ25 SOHC, gong into a '91 Vanagon.
As I was cleaning up the wiring harness, I came across some cut wires, that were leading back to 2 components. Both of theses were originally located on the left engine bay in Impreza.
I believe, one is a Fuel Injector Resistor and the other one, I can't find a name on it. I have a product # B31037-00100-00. Both have wires leading back to the engine connectors. Unfortunately, I can't find any pin out for the engine connectors and my wiring diagram doesn't have both of these items.?
Is there any documentation available? I assume both of these should/ are required for the conversion?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
?Thanks again

Re: Warren’s Conversion

Interesting. I would have to find a place to mount it. ?

Look at catch cans on Amazon and you’ll see them, and then look up Subaru catch cans on YouTube. Mostly guys put them on the turbo 2.5 but you could use them on the NA. You’d plumb it after the PCV but before the T if you have a T?

Re: Warren’s Conversion

It's not a filter, it's an oil/water separator. Looking at your pic it looks like the PCV is on top of the stack coming from the block. I take it this then connects to the intake manifold. The catch can would go inline between the PCV and the intake manifold. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/EVIL-ENERGY-Universal-Reservoir-Aluminum/dp/B081N3BNXR?th=1

Re: Warren’s Conversion

On my 02 2.5l, I plumbed a catch can between the block vent and the PCV threaded into the intake manifold.

Installing pilot bearing in KEP Flywheel

I'm replacing the pilot bearing in a kep flywheel.? ?It has been on a shelf for a while so it may be contaminated.
?
When removing the old one I was a bit surprised how much it deformed, so I'm a smidge concerned about installing the new one.
?
Should I use my press, or a nut and bolt, or hammer with a small plate?
?
?

On my motor the pcv is in the intake so there really isn’t an in between. They moved it to the intake I believe after 2004. Would you still suggest this on the older design where the pcv threads into the intake ??

Re: Warren’s Conversion

Agreed! I bought a parts washer on sale at Harbor Freight and it has made life with this old Subie engine more tolerable. I clean small parts in a two-bucket parts washer that I made for under $10

Re: Warren’s Conversion

It’s amazing how many worn, cracked, broken, incorrect things you can find to fix and improve when you just spend the time to clean them up!

Re: Warren’s Conversion

Then tighten the plates with the attached motor mounts to 25.8 ft. lbs.
