OK latest on my research on oils that match the viscosity etc of SB
rec oils, Types A, B, C and way oil. First the good news/bad news, I
found via a local Shell Oil products dist Vitrea oil, type 22
matching SB Type A, type 32 matching type B and type 68 matching type
C. Unfortuneately it only comes in 55 gal drums. Someone may have a
source for smaller amts, but these Shell Oil products match the SB
specs, too bad they appear to only be available in 55 gal drums.
I did find that MSC, Industrial Supply Co., 1-800-645-7270,
www.mscdirect.com carries 1 gal containers of Velocite no. 10 which
equates to SB Type A as was mentioned in a recent email posting,
price is $10.65/gal. They also have Vectra 2 which matches SB type
C, the most commonly used oil on my 13" lathe for $11.55/gal. Have
not located a source for type B which is used in the quick change
gear box.
