Home Shop Machinist Magazines
Hey Guys:
I'm starting to feel my age lately and not been very active here for quite a while. ?I haven't gotten any response from C.L. ?so I thought I'd try here next. ?I have a very large collection of Home Shop Machinist magazines in excellent condition going back to 1982 thru the end of 2022. ?My major interest now is getting rid of the clutter that has enveloped me for some time. I'm offering the lot (more than 200 issues) to anyone that wants them for any offer of ?$240 or more. Further details can be found on the Buffalo, NY Craigslist site, under general. ?The downside is you must buy them all as I can't spend time locating individual articles. I need them all gone, and soon. ?Shipping is not available, so it has to be a local pickup. ?I live in western NYS near Niagara Falls. Contact me any way you can (no texting though) if you are interested. ? Thanks. -js |

but,
You still have to pack them and carry
them to the post office.
Post office may want to verify the

Hey Guys. Let's stop this daydreaming right now. I estimate these
magazines would cost more than $100 to ship if packed in several boxes and sent out the cheapest way I could find. I have a lot of experience shipping items sold on ebay and am quite familiar with the PLostal service/ Even media rate has a weight limit per package and there are more than 200 individual copies we are talking about here. Media rates also went up with the last general Post Office rate changes. I don't know the current rate, but I know it was higher than I wanted to pay before the current one took effect. -js On Mon, Apr 10, 2023 at 8:41?AM DODGEM37 via groups.io <DODGEM37@...> wrote:

Jim,
If you were to box them up, a buyer could call USPS, UPS, FedEx and they could come to your house and pick up the boxes.?
It would increase your chances of selling the collection faster, and the only extra work for you would be to put the magazines in boxes, tape them closed, and write the lucky buyer's address on the front.?
The cost will be the only item possible buyers will have to see if it is agreeable with their budget or not.?
Best of luck.

开云体育True, but it is possible, as i bought
18 years of back issues (6-12 issues at a time sometimes 99C per
and sometimes up to $6 per issue), from an eBay seller and have a
few dozen shipping boxes to show for it. HSM, MW, DM, and Live
Steam
.
This offer at about $1.25 is an
excellent bargain seeing as 99c was 7 years ago. Don't kick
yourself for not acting. The eBay guy is still there if you want
to wait at 99c-up.
.
This effort would possibly be 4-5
boxes, 200 issues at 50 per box? 40 per box? altho. 40 years would
be 480 issues of HSM 240 + MW240 plus a few specials, so there are
still some missing issues....

I've been buying them as I find one I need (for certain values of "need" anyway) since ebay was a pup, and ordering from Village Press when I can't find them any other way. Getting a bunch of them in one swell foop would be really good. IIRC, oldest issue I have is from early 90's, as that's about when I first found out about them. Yeah, shipping might be a bit costly.? Maybe cheaper in USPS flat rate boxes than media mail in any event.? USPS still generally the best rates, and safer than the clowns with the brown trucks in any case.? Occasionally Fedex Ground is cheaper than USPS.? I sent a 50# box via Fedex Ground from SA, TX to PA for $120 vs the $200 USPS wanted, which is a really weird thing. On Sun, Apr 9, 2023 at 4:17?PM Jim Stack <jimstack25@...> wrote: Hey Guys: |

Does not apply to shipping a bunch of old mags to a buyer. This is for shipping brand spanking new magazines to subscribers, one magazine at a time.
