The Dragons Return

Since my stroke last year I still find it 'awkward' to access a computer. My dominant hand is almost useless and I am forced to use the 'Columbus Method' to type. I am please to see that the fourth book which I added to Bob and Alyx's HP/DoP stories are found on this site. My Yahoo name was Spock7291.

For some reason, I have lost any desire to try to help monetize the stories ... sorry, Alyx. Just prior to my stroke, I had set up an account called 'Alyx & Spock' on Ao3 which has now disappeared. I had hoped that Alyx would agree to help to refine the story. Perhaps later.

I now limit my computer time to only an hour or two a day at most, so my interaction here will be limited, but I will do my best to stay in touch.

Wishing you all the best!

I have created a 'Dragon Returns' group on here for those who have trouble finding Book 4. The link is on the home page.

Right now, the link is still my Google Docs page. Due to my recent health problems, I am seriously considering posting the entire story on Ao3. At least there they don't limit what you can do with your own work.

I need to talk with Alyx before I make any changes.

I continue to send positive vibes your way regarding your healing.
Curious if anyone has suggested using one of the many options for controlling your computer with your voice?
Depending on your chosen platform there are rather a few doors that might work.
posting the story at ao3 would be a positive, speaking personally, if for no other reason than sharing the tale with a broad and appreciative audience who can comment kindly to you with few issues.

Thank you, Karen, your 'vibes' are appreciated.

Over the years I have suggested many times that various people use voice-to-text processors and a few have actually tried them. Unfortunately, there seem to be no versions available for 'dragon speech'. I'm not quite there yet but if my right-hand continues to be recalcitrant, I may end up using one or more. My primary system is a 27" iMac but I also have a Windows 10 system as well as a Linux and Apple ][ systems (the last with 4MB RAM and a 512MB Flash Drive). If I get anything, it will be for my primary work computer, my iMac.

As far as posting anywhere other than Google Docs, I need to talk with Alyx first.

Hi again,
Can your work computer run Catalina for the mac?
One new feature in that os is its own voice dictation, built into the other options available to make apple products work for various populations.
I am moving into off topic areas, but if you are interested, I can send you something privately?

I am currently running macOS 10.15.3 Catalina.
Retina 5K display
Processor: 4 GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
Memory: 32 GB DDR3
Graphics: AMD RadeonR9 M395X w/4 GB video ram

I'm fairly sure it would run anything I need but I'm not yet interested in using speech-to-text.

I've not looked personally, but I read an article about speech to text and text to speech? offerings being pretty few and far between on Linux.

Take care, Spock.?

NONE of them is capable of interpreting my speech with any accuracy at all.

NONE of them interprets the English language terribly reliably - too many homophones
and peculiarities in the language, and contextual interpretation is beyond the capabilities
of commercial software.

Granted, ?you got to “ teach” the program ?and that takes hours and hours to make it reliable , ?and even then it’s not

Alyx,
Please respond to this. I am afraid that none of my research into your and Bob's story has generated enough information to be particularly useful. While I have placed a copy of "The Dragons Return" on your site, I feel the need to get your approval before publishing it to FanFiction or anywhere else. I recently had a health scare that reminded me that I need to finish off a lot of things I thought I had plenty of time for.

I would also like to ask for interested members here to reread the story, "The Dragons Return", particularly with the idea that there may be many logic flaws and under-utilized characters suitable for enhancing the existing text ... or even for additional chapters/books.

I would also suggest that other, budding authors, may find a niche that would allow them to create a new story/stories based on my Book 4. I would like, with Alyx's permission, to allow this 'universe' to spawn additional stories, even if only single chapters.

Hello:

?

I have tried to access the google dox to read this story and even though the document opens, my screenreading software is unable to read it.

Could you perhaps put it all into one text document and email it to me?

If so, the address is:

Hi there after reading all 3 dragons back to back then yours i noticed a massive plot hole that you missed or forgot about.
Snape was arrested and jailed for multiple sexual assault but in your story you treated him like he was just? jailed for tax fraud. He finds a wife and a kid but his whole story of why hes in jail was changed.

He told the ministry of hermione quitting school to hurt potter and because dumbledore restarted the code of conduct.

Snape confessed to making mind controlling potions and raping at least seven girls in the past decade most from slytherin house.

Why did you try and redeem him with giving him jenny and a family??
He should have been killed off. Everything is OK? but this unfortunately ruined the story for me.?

You didn't provide a link, but if you can open it with Google Dox, they have an export feature that lets you save it as text, RTF, PDF, epub, word (doc) or odt. It's under the file menu, under "download".

Hi Karen:

?

I prefer html format, please.

Thanks for doing this.

I have not read the last of the Dragon Riders crossover that Bob and Alyx wrote, so I will be rereading the entire trilogy before reading your book 4 of the saga.

Unfortunately, I could not access those functions because when I tried, it said I didn’t have the authority to do so.
