There is no reference to a name for grandpa Longbottom only the fact that Neville witness him die in the books. in additional background material from JK a family tree shows only Lysandra--->Callidora+Harfang--> (1son 1daughter)
but on the longbottom family tree there is Algie Longbottom who is Neville's great uncle which would make him Harfang's son as well which makes no sense. unless there was some weird gender potion accidents (j/k)

I found the same thing, when I pulled-up different family trees... Well,I guess that I have free rein to name Nav I'll he's grandfather in which ever way that makes the most sense...
I have a story brewing...Where Molly is whisked to the DoMyseteries because she (albeit jokingly) bragged to Nymphadora and a few others, about how she had Potioned Arthur. I had this brain-wave to have the MoM use a living blood relative track Sirius Black, in order to use his Grim form to use in a Hecate ritual to correct anyone and everyone who was potioned by Molly. I was reading up on Hecate (Goddess of Magic, Crossroads, etc) and she is often depicted bearing two torches and in the company of dogs - which why I believe that Sirius' Grim form (I kmow that is a fandom creation) would be a unique way to justify bringing Black into the mainsteam Wizarding world earlier than in the books.
Since my story 'just to the right of center' - cannon wise - I wanted as many details as possible to be accurate.

I would suggest that Grandpa Longbottom not also be named Neville, it would make Augusta treatment of him weirder.

I had this brain-wave to have the MoM use a living blood relative track Sirius Black, in order to use his Grim form to use in a Hecate ritual to correct anyone and everyone who was potioned by Molly. I was reading up on Hecate (Goddess of Magic, Crossroads, etc) and she is often depicted bearing two torches and in the company of dogs - which why I believe that Sirius' Grim form (I kmow that is a fandom creation) would be a unique way to justify bringing Black into the mainsteam Wizarding world earlier than in the books.
Since my story 'just to the right of center' - cannon wise - I wanted as many details as possible to be accurate.

FWIW, I do not recall "Algie" being referred to as a Longbottom, only as Neville's
'great uncle'. Haven't read canon in a long time, so I could be wrong. If he
married into the family, he would still be a 'great uncle' even if he did not take
the "Longbottom" name.
I do recall various fanon uses of him being a Longbottom, but never by
JKR although she left plot holes they could drive lorries through,
as they say in the UK.

Great Uncle Algie is never specified as being a Longbottom. He could be Augusta's brother or Alice's uncle. With how long lived magicals can be (Griselda Marchbanks's age, at least a decade older than Dumbledore, isn't seen as unusual), he also could be Great-Great (& maybe even Great-Great-Great) Uncle Algie, but Neville just uses the title Great Uncle.
