It's the day after Christmas. From Wikipedia:
"Boxing Day is a public holiday observed in many Commonwealth
countries on 26 December. In many European countries it is also a
holiday, called St Stephen's Day or the Second Day of Christmas. It
is, in fact, more correct to say that Boxing Day is the first
weekday after Christmas, since Boxing Day cannot, officially, fall
on either a Saturday or a Sunday. (Reference: Merriam Webster)"
"There is much dispute over the true origins of Boxing Day, but one
common story of the holiday's origins is that servants used to
receive Christmas gifts from their employers on the first weekday
after Christmas, the day after the family celebrations. These were
generally called their Christmas boxes. Another story is that this
is the day that priests broke open the collection boxes and
distributed the money to the poor."
As I understand it, Christmas is for exchange of gifts between
family, and Boxing Day is for exchanging gifts with friends,
neighbors, coworkers, and so on. Primarily a reason to extend the
holiday and take another day off from work.

I was wondering what exactly is Boxing Day? I have heard it
before, but honestly never thought to ask what exactly the holiday
was I just know it was celebrated in the UK and not in North America
or aleast not main stream NA. I mean it is in calendars and so
forth. I am just wondering the importance and meaning of the day.
