How would you know if a writer was male or female if they don't post something to that affect on their page? There are plenty of writers who's nom de plume is genderless or reflects a different gender then the writer's actual one. And then there are the nom de plumes that a single name but are actually a group of 2 or more writers.

In this case, because of author's notes in the story itself. They indicate taking their user name from their child's name instead, and share their gender as a woman in another note as well. would not have commented accordingly without information supporting the claim. although that reminds me of something I read once, which I wondered about factually.
