Fic rec for today:
Thank you so much. I’ll check on the spelling and grammar to improve my English and share my corrections in my Facebook group. I hope it’s fine with everyone. SlickRCBD <slickrcbdalerts@...> schrieb am So. 5. Nov. 2023 um 22:00: I've got to recommend this fic today, on the fic's 15th anniversary. |
Annnnd ..... not a single firework was set off in my part of Devon. Nary a one. These days, Mr Fawkes wouldn't be able to affort the gunpowder to blow up his aunty's begonias, let alone the Houses of Parliament. As an ex-Catholic, I feel Guy Fawkes Night is discriminatory!? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Also why do we celebrate the torturing to death of the only man to enter Parliament with honest intentions?

will not the public still find the issues elsewhere? On Sun, 5 Nov 2023, Kevin via groups.io wrote:

Actually, some of us celebrate Mr Fawkes brave attempt at installing central heating under the ministers, and getting them to do something other than polish the seats with their rumps. A few of us celebrate in order to remember to keep our powder dry. Others, on the other hand (Hythe is one of such place), burn political figures in effigy (Effigy being a small town in Staffordshire), while others burn a figure of a past Pope - who usually bears a striking resemblance to whichever political figure has upset the townspeople that year. For my part, I only pay attention in order to see who is fool enough to spend far too much dosh on burning explosives that should be spent on real needs ... ... or given to me to use since they don't want it.
