They aren't meant to be likeable. They're written by a guy who hates the superhero genre, but paradoxically writes his most lucrative stories in said universes. In the Boys universe, having superpowers pretty much means you're utter scum. If you're a good person, then you won't be after a while. The creator says that Homelander would destroy Superman without breaking a sweat, but comparing what he's canonically done in the comics against what Superman has done in the comics? He MIGHT be able to beat the Siegel Superman, but any other versions? Homelander is only going to survive because of Kal's code against killing.
