Hi folks, asking broadly as I can find no reference to this cookie on the cloudflare website. One of our members told me privately that they got a cookie from cloudflare, registering via e-mail, and uses this cookie to address the recent fanfiction downloader issues at ffn. I am not a windows user, and do not personally use fanfiction downloader. However, given conversations here and on other lists about cloudflare, if this new solution exists, I would want to spread the word. Anyone have direct links for this cloudflare cookie? Thanks, Karen
|
To further that conversation Karen, while using FanFictionDownloader, Cloud Fleur kept popping up and then it was quickly followed by a ‘Captia’ image to proceed with my download. As you are all aware, my eyesight is somewhat lacking and I got to clicking on different links in the captia image box and one of them led me to information on an accessibility cookie. I then got into an email conversation over the accessibility cookie and they set up the account for me. They sent me an email with an activation link in it, which is stored away so that I can renew the cookie once a month, or when the captia image box pops up again. Since doing this, when Cloud Fleur pops up, each time I click on a FFN link, it takes a second or two before moving me on to the story. Before, I got nothing, just an indeterminable amount of time as I would wait for the page to load. And also, now, when I use FanFictionDownloader, CloudFleur only pops up on the longer stories and the Captia image box is there. Then I click on the box for more information, select accessibility and right click on the link and reset the cookie. Haven’t really had a problem since. Hope this helps for all those that are having similar issues. ? Derek ? ? Sent from for Windows ?

Hi derek, You had this email conversation with who, if you do not mind my asking? There is a company called hcaptcha, that was hired previously to manage cloudflare captcha images. That is not cloudflare itself though. Lately, at least in lower graphics environments like Linux, ffn will not present a captcha at all. Instead the cloudflare process indicates that you will be forwarded shortly, but hangs instead. Karen

Hi guys, Yup, I got the cookie, saved the email. Ran it again, I think that was my problem. And for longer stories I do... tab to the checkbox, space, enter twice to accessibility, tab twice to retrieve cookie, shift enter. More steps than I like, but it does work. Thanks guys!!! Katy

Hey All: ? I also noticed something regarding Google and, I think, Google Chrome and using that particular browser. If I understand correctly, because the user is usually signed into their google account automatically, the whole Captia, etc. is bypassed as it already knows that you are not a robot. As to other operating systems though, I’m not too sure as I have only ever used the Windows based platforms on any computer. And unfortunately, my screen reading software doesn’t work so well with Chrome, Sapphire, Firefox, etc. as JAWS is designed to work specifically with Windows and Java. ? Regards, Derek ? PS. Granted, as described speaking personally it sounds like that would be both a security and privacy risk. why would google impact the security on fanfiction.net anyway?
