Plagiarism on ff.net

An uploader with the handle of Tyrion God is uploading work not their own.

Uploaded are word for word repostings of
- S'TarKan's Nightmare of Future's Past,
- jbern's The Lie I've Lived
- Raining Ink's Out of the Night
- Rusty Red's Ectomancer

Regarding Raining Ink, they do have a ff-net account and an author forum that seems mainly somewhere to request a copy of the fic.

I've reported him to the mods.

report the account to support@...

I have reported it too. Seems like he also has another account by the name of Poorfox1. All the stories posted in that account are also plagiarised and are favourited by the said user.

Edit: Included the link.

he seems to have many accounts that are all favored
i went down the rabbit hole and found a few more.
I recognized jeconias's Hope on one of em

all favored by each account and all joined and uploaded all the stories on the same day

Making site admin involvement absolutely critical..is there a way to nail those accounts at an IP address or provider level?

What's even worse, he's not posting complete copies of the works!? Seems to include from one to six chapters.

Unfortunately, the true depths of this violation will most likely result in the affected authors removingn their fics, perhaps permanently.? Other authors may do the same, not wanting to be a victim themselves.?

It's happened before, and most like will happen again sometime in the future. In the meanwhile,? some of the great stories are lost due to one selfish person.

I wish the admin good hunting to remove this person from the site.

While I don't condone plagiarism, one issue is that many of these authors have stopped writing Harry Potter fiction and either minimally or no longer frequent fanfiction.net.? So not only are they unlikely to know about this, but unless you're an old timer, readers may not recognize the fics as stolen.? I'm not a lawyer, but some could argue the fics are abandoned and therefore, free to use.

Again, I am not condoning the plagiarism nor suggesting that these fics are free for all.? Just expressing some thoughts.? So please don't flame me.

Thx...N

Most of the stories plagiarised are still available under the original writer's name, many of us on this group have written fanfiction, and have corresponded and even helped edit stories over the years and have formed internet frienships with these writers, that's why we object to plagiarism.

And missing the point that the stories themselves ARE still quite available on line under the authors name, even in cases where the author has died.? Nope, given that I am on mailing lists with some of his victims who I assure you are still out there and NOT PLEASED with someone else trying to take credit for their creations I can assure you this is not a good argument...

For that matter, ffn is hardly the only on line source for fanfiction.? Ask around.
