Re: Did fanfiction.net go bye-bye?
Hey folks,
Now that FF.net is back up, if you implemented the HOSTS file fix, I
recommend that you go and either remove the entry that you added or you

Re: Did fanfiction.net go bye-bye?
Oh..thank you for sharing the entire post.
The journalist in me would be asking ffn staff why, if they removed items on 10 July, they waited until 12 July to document that action with godaddy?

*Another* reason to avoid Android.
I hate "We know better than you do" attitudes from software.

Re: Did fanfiction.net go bye-bye?
Probably not, unless you've rooted your tablet. Android locks out all
access to the system files as part of their security model. I did google
"edit host file android" and found a few ways to

Re: Did fanfiction.net go bye-bye?
DNS is the internet's weak point.
There's a common haiku about it in Sysadmin spaces.
The method used isn't a "hack" or unintended bypass - it's always worked
that way - the hosts file was how to

Re: Did fanfiction.net go bye-bye?
Not really.
DNS stands for Domain Name Server and all it does is provide the IP number to the requesting computer.
An IP number is basically the same as a street address. It just tells everyone WHERE
