Logan Simpson has upcoming openings for temporary Archaeological Field Technicians for archaeological survey projects in Colorado (with possibility of working in Utah and other surrounding states), managed out of our Salt Lake City office.

Compensation & Perks:

This position is paid on an hourly basis between $22 - $26 per hour, depending on experience and education. Per diem, which is $68 per day for hotel-based projects and $120 per day for camping-based projects, will be provided for all non-local fieldwork. Logan Simpson will provide single-occupancy hotel rooms for all hotel-based projects. For eligible temporary staff members, Logan Simpson provides benefits such as a retention bonus program, a $150 field gear stipend, paid sick leave, and 8 paid holidays, depending upon hours worked, and eligibility for a healthcare program through ACRA (American Cultural Resources Association).?

Responsibilities Include:

• Participating in pedestrian archaeological surveys as a crew member, under the supervision of a field director or crew lead, throughout Colorado and/or the Great Basin.
• Office work as needed (in our Fort Collins office).

Position Requires:

• Bachelor’s degree (in process or complete) in Anthropology or Archaeology.
• Education and/or experience in the Colorado Plateau, Plains, and/or Great Basin.
• Ability to identify archaeological artifacts and features.
• Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures and in remote locations (camping is a possibility).
• Ability to walk up to 10 miles per day over steep terrain for extended periods of time.
• Willingness to work field sessions up to 8 days in a row.
• The ability to work out-of-town.
• Proficiency with electronic devices such as smart phones and tablets for digital data collection (iOS operating system experience a plus).
• Ability to work cooperatively with crew members and supervisors is a must.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Residence in Colorado.
• Completion of an accredited archaeological field school.
