Archaeological/Historical Consultants is seeking archaeological technicians for on-call, as-needed work. We are a full-service cultural resources management firm based in Oakland, with work primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area and nearby counties. Anticipated work includes archaeological survey, testing, and monitoring.

You should have:

·????? A BA in archaeology or anthropology, or equivalent work experience;

·????? Field experience in archaeological excavation, survey, and/or laboratory work;

·????? Excellent observational and note-taking skills;

·????? The ability to walk on rough terrain, stand for long periods, and lift loads up to 40 pounds;

·????? Familiarity with archaeological resources typically found in northern California; and

·????? The ability to work respectfully with Native American monitors and preserve the confidentiality of archaeological resources.

Pluses:

·????? Prior experience working with San Francisco Bay Area tribes

·????? Experience with burial excavation

·????? Coursework in geoarchaeology or soil science

·????? Research and writing skills

Field Technician has a pay range of $32.00-$38.18/hour depending on experience, plus paid sick leave. Projects will last from a few days to a few weeks and will be located in the San Francisco Bay Area. Due to the urban location, no hotel or per diem allowances are available; locally-based applicants are preferred.
