Are you an experienced environmental scientist ready to take on a leadership role in public policy, Tribal relations, and CEQA compliance? The Central Valley Flood Protection Board (CVFPB) is hiring a?Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist)?to support flood risk reduction, regulatory review, and government-to-government consultation with California Native American Tribes.

This is a?rare opportunity to serve as a Tribal Liaison within a State regulatory agency, directly influencing land use policy and environmental standards that protect communities and ecosystems throughout California¡¯s Central Valley.

What You¡¯ll Do

  • Serve as the Board¡¯s?Tribal Liaison, leading government-to-government consultations and supporting policy development.
  • Represent CVFPB at?Tribal Advisor meetings?focused on land management and cultural resource considerations.
  • Integrate Tribal perspectives into Board decisions, environmental strategies, and regulatory policies.
  • Lead?CEQA reviews?for permit applications and large-scale flood risk reduction projects.
  • Act as a?Lead Agency under CEQA, ensuring compliance with all applicable State and federal environmental laws.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel and executive leadership to ensure sound environmental policy decisions.
  • Present findings and recommendations to Board Members in?public meetings.

You Might Be a Great Fit If You Have:

  • Strong knowledge of CEQA, NEPA, and environmental regulatory frameworks
  • Experience working with or on behalf of Tribal governments
  • Background in environmental science, public policy, or land use planning
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, especially in public or intergovernmental settings

Central Valley Flood Protection Board provided pay range: ?$7,556.00 - $10,221.00 per month

This range is provided by Central Valley Flood Protection Board. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience ¡ª talk with your recruiter to learn more.
