On-Call SOI-Qualified Bioarchaeologist - SE USA - Temporary with Potential for Permanent
TerraXplorations, Inc. is looking for an ON-CALL SOI-qualified Bioarchaeologist to monitor and conduct fieldwork throughout the Southeast. Only SOI-qualified candidates will be considered. A successful candidate will conduct fieldwork in a professional, organized, and efficient manner. Responsibilities would include: monitoring, reporting, leading fieldwork, phase I survey, identification of human remains, metal detection, mapping, and artifact identification. This position is for on-call employment. The hourly rate is project-dependent and?ranges from $20.00 to $25.00/hour. ? Requirements: *MA in Anthropology (emphasis in biological anthropology), Biological Anthropology (emphasis in archaeology), Bioarchaeology, or Forensic Anthropology *Experience leading professional cultural resource projects/surveys (minimum 1 yr) *Experience in identifying human remains *Knowledge of NAGPRA *Familiarity with federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines for cultural resources *Ability to perform strenuous work in various environmental conditions and lift and carry 50 lbs. *Ability to work in a team-based environment both in the field and in a virtual office space *Ability to follow written and verbal instructions *Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills ? Preferences: *RPA *Three or more years of professional experience leading field portions of cultural resource projects/surveys *Experience monitoring ground-disturbing activities *Experience writing technical reports (including but not limited to Monitoring Reports, Cemetery *Management Plans, and Phase I Survey Reports) *Experience in pre-contact and historic artifact identification *GIS software, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Suite *Familiar with GPD equipment (Garmin and Trimble) ? Responsibilities: *While under the supervision of a Principal Investigator and/or Project Manager, oversee/manage field portions of projects, including crew management and leading daily safety meetings *Assist with training field staff *Perform/oversee tasks associated with Phase I, II, and III projects, including shovel testing, excavation, photography, identification of artifacts, and site/feature (surface and subsurface)/survey documentation? *While under the supervision of a Principal Investigator and/or Project Manager, contribute to technical reports and conduct QAQC of project deliverables *Follow company schedules, due dates, procedures, and policies *Maintain a field equipment inventory with maintenance needs ?
