Espinoza Consulting Services has immediate openings for?Archaeological Crew Chiefs?for work at Fort Irwin in Southern California. Positions are hourly/temporary, but longer-term employment is possible. Hourly compensation, based on SCA wage determination for the project location, is $32.65/hour. Per diem and/or accommodations are provided at GSA rates.?
Minimum Requirements:
  • BS or BA in anthropology or archaeology with more than five years of field leadership experience in Southern California. Experience in the Mojave Desert is preferred.
  • Preference will be given to individuals who have demonstrated experience in field crew management. Successful candidates will have excellent technical writing, computer, and GPS skills.
  • Ability to walk up to 10 miles a day; lift up to 40 lbs.; identify historic and prehistoric artifacts and features; conduct archaeological survey and testing; complete sketch maps of features and sites; complete field forms accurately and concisely; use a GPS unit; and photograph resources.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (e.g., rugged terrain, high elevation, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures).
  • Good organizational skills, a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
  • Must have a clean driver’s license. Employment is also subject to drug and alcohol testing (including cannabis). Background check may be necessary on certain projects.
