The Alamo is expanding and we are hiring a Staff Archaeologist!?
Salary range - $60,000 - $65,000 annually.
Full-time with benefits, including employer paid medical insurance for employee, paid time off, generous retirement match.
POSITION SCOPE
The objective of the Staff Archaeologist position is to provide archeological services associated with the construction of buildings and Alamo grounds. The Staff Archaeologist would report to the Director of Archaeology. They also work closely with the Collections
Staff.
The Staff Archaeologist coordinates with Alamo Trust staff and vendors concerning cultural resource related activities, including, but not limited to, survey, testing, and monitoring associated with proposed improvements to the Alamo grounds. They will ensure
that all work done on or near the Alamo¡¯s grounds complies with historical preservation laws. They will also aid in the development of programs and education projects at the historical site related to archaeology.
DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
? Perform archival research, archaeological inventories, testing, evaluation, mitigation and data recovery.
? Produce archaeological scope of work for antiquities permit application.
? Conduct excavation, document and preserve artifacts.
? Collect, analyze, interpret and present data.
? Consult with experts about laws and regulations concerning cultural resource issues.
? Complete field forms, draw sketch maps, prepare profile and plan view field drawings.
? Produce, compile and maintain written, photographic and drawn records and electronic databases.
? Ensure quality assurance, organization, and appropriate tracking of field data.
? Engage in office-based tasks including data entry, technical report preparation and submittal, as well as liaising with site stakeholders.
? Make presentations to the public, at workshops and other venues on archaeological work.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
? Master¡¯s degree from an accredited university in anthropology, archaeology, or a related field required.
? At least 5 years of previous cultural resource management experience.
? Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (SharePoint, OneDrive, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) preferred
? Exceptional organizational and project management skills and the ability to prioritize, as well as adapt to the changing priorities of the business
? Strong written communication skills as well as strong organizational and project management skills.
? Strong technical report writing skills.
? Ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter who excels at working in a dynamic and changing environment.
? Ability to respond to and prioritize a high volume of complex tasks in a face paced environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is primarily an outdoor construction site environment, although periods will occur within an indoor, climate-controlled office environment comprised of cubicles, walled-offices and group conference rooms. The noise level in the office environment
is usually low. PPE required by the construction consultants are required, and may consist of steel-toed boots, hard hat, safety vest, gloves, and ear plugs. There are no protective devices necessary to be worn or utilized in the office work environment. Minimal
