Position Description: Acacia Heritage Consulting is a growing cultural resources consulting firm based in Austin and San Antonio, Texas. We are a small, woman-owned business serving a variety of clients and business sectors, including the federal government, state and local governments, DOTs, the energy sector, and private clients building the places and infrastructure of tomorrow. We offer consulting and expertise to promote economic development through?heritage awareness and preservation because we believe there are tangible, quantifiable,?and long-term economic benefits to historic preservation. ? We are looking to hire a full time Project Archaeologist to Principal Investigator-level individual to support our increasing workload in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Arkansas. This full-time position can be remote with work from home, or in person from Acacia’s San Antonio, Texas office. The position will require frequent travel to and from job sites in Texas and adjacent states, and to meet with other staff in the home office. The ideal candidate need not be based in Austin or San Antonio but ideally should be based in Texas, a nearby state, or willing to relocate. The position is for mid-level professionals who seek an opportunity to expand their professional range, management skills, and operational footprint with an emerging company. ? Working with Acacia’s core team of talented staff, and under direct supervision of company principals, this person will provide assistance with project tasks at various levels including, but not limited to project planning and implementation, field and staff supervision, artifact analysis, research, technical reporting and overall project management. Responsibilities will include leading and supervising field staff for all phases of archeological investigations, writing technical reports that apply National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility criteria, developing appropriate field methodologies for cultural resources projects, recording and evaluating cultural resources, preparing maps using GIS software, analyzing artifacts, coordinating regulatory compliance efforts with federal, state, and municipal agencies, supervising and mentoring junior staff, interfacing with and building clientele, and providing other support and technical assistance as needed. ? The ideal candidate should be able to manage time independently, adhere to established budgets and schedules, maintain a professional demeanor, and interact productively with team members to meet deadlines and team goals. This position will involve travel but also offers an opportunity to take on greater responsibility for business development and operations over time. ? Additional Information: Estimated time in the field is 25-40% initially with less travel over time. This is full-time salaried position. Compensation will be based on education and experience.
