Inviting Holiness Leviticus 11:45 (NIV?) “I am the LORD, who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy.” God calls us to imitate His holiness, but His holiness is difficult for us to fully comprehend. We see many of God’s attributes expressed in other ways. We know people we consider to be wise, and from observing them, we can imagine a wise God. We see the ocean roar and lightning flash, and we can imagine a powerful God. We see the love of parents for their children, and we can imagine God’s love for us. But no person or act of nature is holy, so we can only know about holiness from observing how God has acted through the ages. We see it in His perfect consistency and absolute righteousness. We see it in Jesus’ life of love and sacrifice. We see it in the abundant way the Holy Spirit fills us and guides us. Nothing in our lives escapes His invitation to holiness. So, in everything—your relationships, your business dealings, and your recreation—seek to be holy, because He is holy and has called you to be holy, too. THINK ABOUT IT If you asked your family and friends whether your actions were holy, what would they say? What words and actions reflect Christ, and which ones fall short? PRAYER Heavenly Father, I choose Your best! Teach me to walk in paths of righteousness and to honor Your Word. Keep me far from deception, and deliver me from temptation. My desire is to live uprightly before You, to be pleasing in Your sight, and to fulfill all You created me to do. Holy Spirit, give me an understanding heart and the discernment to recognize the truth. In Jesus’ name, amen. Day 131: Happy Mother’s Day ~ A Mother’s Calling May 11, 2025 by Marsha G. Richards Proverbs 31:28, 30-31 “Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her… Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” Let’s face it, mothering is hard, perhaps the hardest thing a woman does her entire life. So much is at stake as she tries to steer her charges towards being obedient, respectable, motivated, hard-working, God-honoring human beings. Mothers today have the benefit of machines to do a lot of the chores and the availability of take-out when they are too tired to cook, but there is a burden many bear that is not always obvious to others. Besides all the emotional, physical, and spiritual facets of motherhood, women today live under the weight of expectations—trying to meet the expectations and approval of others. Many fall into a perfectionistic, performance-based acceptance trap or the trap of comparing themselves, their homes, and their children to others. Dear women, we are daughters of the King! Let us not fall into that trap but, rather, be grace-filled women, fulfilling our uniquely designed roles as mothers and grandmothers, not allowing the enemy to tear down what the Lord has built up and is continuing to work in us. God has confidence in us, and He has equipped us for this. What we are instilling in our children and grandchildren—all the love, encouragement, and training in righteousness—are parts of the priceless inheritance that will be passed down to those kids. Almost daily, as I scroll through Facebook, I see examples of the rich inheritance already passed down, evidenced by the many tributes given to moms who are no longer with us. What we do today in the lives of our children and grandchildren counts immeasurably—even after we are gone and no longer here to see it—having an impact on the generations to come. To all of you moms, who give so selflessly each day, stay faithful to the divine task for which God has commissioned you. Cling to God and hold onto the big picture! Worship Authentically 1 Chronicles 16:8-11 (NIV?) Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice. Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always. Many people have strong opinions about how corporate worship should look and sound. Some of us prefer a pipe organ and hymn books. Others prefer guitars and lyrics on a screen. Some of my most profound worship experiences were in tents where no one had to worry about changing the light bulb in the chandelier, or on a dirt floor where no one argued about the color of the carpet, or with music played on drums missing heads and guitars missing strings. One of the lessons I’ve learned over the last few years is to never take for granted the privilege of gathering for worship. Being able to gather with God’s people and lift our voices in praise and thanksgiving in a public place are gifts from God. When you have the privilege of worshipping with other believers, I urge you to lay aside the clutter and turn your attention to God. Lift your heart to Him. Praise Him with your voice. Bring Him your burdens. Then, receive His blessings. THINK ABOUT IT “Stand up and praise the LORD your God, who is from everlasting to everlasting. ‘Blessed be your glorious name, and may it be exalted above all blessing and praise. You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.’” (Nehemiah 9:5-6, NIV?) PRAYER Heavenly Father, I praise You. You created the earth and everything in it. You have chosen me and called me out of the darkness. You have forgiven me and restored me. You alone deserve glory and honor and praise. Fearlessly 开云体育 God Luke 1:72-74 (NIV?) “… to remember his holy covenant, the oath he swore to our father Abraham: to rescue us from the hand of our enemies, and to enable us to serve him without fear.” This prophecy of Zechariah (Luke 1:68-79) was given by the Holy Spirit upon the birth of the priest’s son, who would grow up to be the man we know as John the Baptist. Zechariah and his wife were beyond their childbearing years. Yet, God had promised them a son, and now they and everyone who knew them had witnessed His power to do the seemingly impossible. In his outpouring of praise, Zechariah reminded his friends and neighbors of God’s covenant with Abraham and His promises to His people for power and deliverance. We need that reminder, too. We’ve become increasingly reluctant to talk about what Jesus has done for us for fear that we will offend someone or forfeit an opportunity because of our faith. I freely admit those things might happen. But I promise you that even if they do, God’s blessings upon us will be far greater than anything we may seem to have lost. THINK ABOUT IT Recalling God’s faithfulness and promises will help you serve Him without fear, freeing you to make a greater difference for His Kingdom than you ever imagined. PRAYER Heavenly Father, forgive me for when I have been fearfully silent regarding who You are and what You have done for me. I remember Your steadfast love, faithfulness, and mercies. Deliver me from immobilizing fear, and free me to serve You with my life and voice, honoring Jesus every place You take me. In His name, amen. Good evening everyone, Just thought I would take a minute and check-in. It was beautiful 60 degree day here in west Michigan. We finally got the house put back together. And, I finished my "spring cleaning" while we were at it. Yesterday when I finished my "Son"day shares, I decided to install one of my programs to my new computer. It asked me to reboot, so I did, and when it came back up, it was in safe mode! I have no idea why.. and I didn't know howto fix it.. so, this morning, off to Crashmasters it went. He said it would be a couple of days. It was really strange.. because it wasn't like it was something I had never used, and have installed on my laptop, as well. We just finished supper and dishes, just settling in for the evening with a cup of tea and a Hallmark movie. I have laundry to do tomorrow but, hope to be able to do a little sharing in the morning. Sam has an appointment at the Vet in the afternoon. Hope you All had a good day, and that you have a restful night's rest.
