Bongo is an extremely handsome 14 yo f1 Savannah male who is looking for a new furever home. The breeder (Drinkwater Cats) has been contacted and will not be taking Bongo back. His owner will be moving at the end of March and is looking to rehome him, prior, as she can no longer handle the physical aspects that go along with owning such an active cat.?
?
Bongo has lived with his owner since he was a kitten. She says that ‘overall BONGO IS THE COOLEST’. But, it is important to note, that he is an F1 and that they can be a lot of cat and a huge responsibility to take care of. F1s are not for everyone. Bongo is definitely not a cuddler or lap cat, nor does he like to be carried. But he likes to rub up on you on his own time. He would never try to scratch, lunge, or bite anyone. He has always loved to be in the same room as his owner and is always rubbing up against her legs and also other people that come over. His owner reports that she feels as if he may be more comfortable around women but that he did take a liking to her nephew who lived with her for 5 years. Bongo is also a bit of an escape artist. So his new family would need to be very careful when opening any doors that lead out of the house (as he has slipped by his owner in the past where she has had to go after him) and would need to make sure that if an outdoor enclosure were to be provided for him, it would need to be escape proof.

Overall, Bongo is described by his owner as being very friendly to family and visitors, very active and playful, talkative, more like a dog, and fearless. He plays gently (does not usually use teeth or claws), likes to chase and pounce with a variety of toys, enjoys to play in or around water, and loves to play and gets along well with other cats. He has been around dogs everyday since he has lived with his owner and has done good around encounters with child visitors. His current lifestyle and routine at home, is indoors in the evening, free roam of the house, and time in his outdoor enclosure everyday. He uses his scratching post, has good litter box habits, but has reported to occasionally urinate/spray when upset or overly stimulated. This is typical of an F1. He is neutered, up-to-date on his vaccinations, and is in good health.?

Being that Bongo is an F1, it will most likely take time for him to acclimate into a new home. We are looking for a home who is willing to be patient, committed, and to work with Bongo as he settles in on his own time. The home must be IN CALIFORNIA ONLY. So if you are a resident, can give Bongo a loving home, and are able to drive to pick him up, please email us at info@... with a description of your home and household and why you would make a good fit for Bongo. Convince us that you understand the challenges with owning and winning over an F1. He will need a room of his own to decompress and acclimate. Please include whether you can meet that need as well.

Adoption Fee - $200. Note that the owner requires that Bongo’s cat wheel goes with him to his new home.
