"Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise Him, my salvation and my God." ~ Psalm 42:11 ESV INDIA: Ministry Couple Sentenced for Alleged Conversions Sources: Christian Solidarity Worldwide, International Christian Concern, The Times of India, UCA News A church in India. Photo: Flickr / Nevil Zaver (cc) On July 30th, 2024, an amendment to Uttar Pradesh's anti-conversion legislation was passed in an effort to strengthen the state's existing laws. In particular, major changes were made to the severity of punishments imposed on convicted individuals. Since the amended law was brought into effect, a pastor and his wife were found guilty on January 22nd and sentenced to five years' imprisonment. They were also fined 25,000 rupees (about $420 CAD) each. Pastor Jose Pappachan and his wife Sheeja were accused of attempting to convert "vulnerable people." The complainant in the case added that the pastor and his wife had allegedly conducted "mass conversions" during a gathering on December 25th, 2022. However, the ministering couple argued that they were simply providing education and encouraging sobriety among members of the impoverished Dalit community. Both Pastor Jose and Sheeja served eight months in prison during 2023 before being released on bail. At the bail hearing, the High Court ruled that distributing Bibles, encouraging education and acts of public charity do not constitute attempts to conduct forced religious conversions. Despite this positive former ruling, the original charges against the Christians were upheld, leading to their recent conviction on January 22nd. The couple intends to appeal the local court's decision. Christian leaders and lawyers in India have expressed concerns that this judgement may serve as a precedent for the hundreds of other believers who have been arrested in Uttar Pradesh under anti-conversion laws. For additional reports on Christian persecution in India, including a video interview about a similar bill that was recently introduced in the Rajasthan state assembly, go to our country profile. May God work powerfully within the lives of this recently convicted couple, granting them the strength to serve as vibrant witnesses of His love, hope and peace while commencing with their prison sentences. Pray that these believers’ request for an appeal will be approved and that court officials will rule in their favour, leading to the acquittal and release of Pastor Jose and Sheeja. Also prayerfully remember the many other Christians throughout India who must contend with the country’s harmful anti-conversion laws, asking that they would receive divine wisdom as they seek to faithfully share the Gospel message. NIGERIA: Numerous Recent Atrocities in Chibok Area Sources: International Christian Concern, Open Doors Boko Haram terrorists. In the latest onslaught of violence by Boko Haram terrorists, Christian communities near Chibok, Borno State, were recently targeted by a string of coordinated attacks. The devastating raids resulted in several deaths, the destruction of dozens of homes, and the forced displacement of more than 4,000 followers of Jesus. Since December 22nd, seven villages have reportedly been assaulted, with at least ten believers losing their lives. After attacks on the villages of Shikarkir and Yirmirmug during the early morning hours of January 20th, more than 1,500 residents were forced to flee for safety. In Shikarkir, eight people had been killed and a total of 57 homes were destroyed. Only three villages in the Chibok LGA (local government area) were left unscathed. According to witnesses, the militants particularly targeted Christians, sometimes demanding that the believers convert to Islam or face death. As a result, churches and homes belonging to followers of Jesus were destroyed, while properties owned by Muslims had been completely untouched. Christian leaders have expressed concerns that new believers – including those from Muslim backgrounds – are also being enticed by the assailants to convert to Isl

Pray for the gospel to go deeper and wider among the churches and people of Kunming. February 3 - Kunming is located in the southwestern corner of China, in the Yunnan province, which borders Myanmar, Laos, and Vietnam. Because of its subtropical weather, it is known as the "City of Eternal Spring." One pastor from Kunming says, "Basically, there's no need for air conditioning or heating. In the past few years, it's also been rated as the most livable city in China. So people in Kunming will always say, ‘home is best,’ and even when we go elsewhere, we still think Kunming is the best." Pray for the eternal peace of Christ to bless this city of eternal spring. February 4 - Yunnan province, where Kunming is located, is known for being incredibly diverse, home to 26 registered ethnic minorities. One pastor shares, "Historically, it's considered a frontier region. It's a very inclusive city. Throughout history, some missionaries have used Kunming as a starting point to enter the frontier ethnic minority areas." Pray for God to use Christians in Kunming to spread the gospel to all people’s, so that people from "??all tribes and peoples and languages" would come to know him (Rev 7:9). February 5 - Kunming is a major tourist city. People often use it as a launching point to visit sites like the Stone Forest, amazing limestone formations that look like petrified trees, or the Yunnan Ethnic Village, where the art and folklore of Yunnan’s many ethnicities are on display. One pastor says, "You see many outsiders in Kunming, but they're not Kunming locals. Many are from other provinces, or even from other countries, coming here for tourism. People stay here for a few days and then return to their own places." In the midst of this transience, pray for Christians who are deeply-rooted in Kunming, who will strive to stay in and minister in the city for many years. February 6 - Kunming has a long missionary history. "Many of us," says one pastor, "including myself and many around us, actually came to faith under the leadership of these foreign missionaries." Pray for the seeds sown by these missionaries to continue to bear fruit. February 7 - One pastor in Kunming says, "This city is lukewarm, kind of like Laodicea, neither hot nor cold. No matter what you do, the pace isn't very fast. When the gospel comes to this city, it's also lukewarm. People aren't very eager for theological lectures or training, but they don't reject it either. They just listen, they just watch, but they don't reject it, and they don't fully accept it." Pray for the gospel to stir the hearts of these lukewarm people, that they would become passionate for Christ. February 8 - Kunming has historically been a city that has received many refugees. service with a smile
2
SERVICE WITH A SMILE Reading John 13:1-5 Philippians 2:5-8 We enjoyed being served, many people serve us. They serve us at the restaurant, at the supermarket and at the gas station. We are servants, but not to an earthly master. We are servants to a heavenly master, we have his example in his life, especially in John 13, there is the benchmark for us. So to sum up, what service means, here is an acronym to help us understand it. S is for Selfless service Christ did not come to be serve, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many. Service is not about you, it is never selfish, it is always selfless. When we serve people, we will do anything, there is nothing we won't do for people. After all Jesus served us, he washed the disciples feet, the lowest form of service, he gave us this amazing selfless example. Service to others is not about exalting yourself, but exalting Christ. E is for everyday 开云体育 people is not a one off thing, it is a continuous thing. It is a life trait, it is something we do and we love doing. We are not to be weary of well doing. 2 Thess 3:13 Galatians 6:9 R is for reverent service Our service to God must be reverent, whatever we do is to the glory of God. We are to serve God in a way that brings him glory 1 Cor 10:31. In Ephesians 6, we have this verse: Ephesians 6:7 King James Version 7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Everything we do is for God, we are serving others, as if we are serving Christ. Are you doing the washing up at church? Do it if Jesus was going to use that plate or cup. V is for virtuously Luke 17:10 English Standard Version 10 So you also, when you have done all that you were commanded, say, ‘We are unworthy servants;[a] we have only done what was our duty.’” Even when we serve, pride is probably our biggest enemy. We think oh look at me, I'm doing such a good work here, arent i good. But in fact, we are nothing but unworthy servants. Pride kills service, in fact pride makes us unfit for service, pride can be a service killer, remember to serve with a virtuous heart. Psalm 24 I is for instant service Have you heard the pastor plead week after week for someone to do that job or this job in church, People are reluctant to come forward to service, But we should be instant in serving the Lord, when the Lord gives the call to serve in some area, we should be ready and willing to go, we should be like Isaiah, who said Here I am send me. C is Christ centred Service Everything we do must be centred on Christ, when we serve people, it is to show Christ's love and compassion to that person or group. We serve because he first served us, he gave us a living breathing example of what service was like. E is for encouraging service There are many one another's in the New testament, one especially is to stir up one another to faith and good works Hebrews 10:24. When we serve others, it is meant to encourage others to grow in their faith, Paul was served by many people, look at the three people, who served him, in these verses in 1 Cor 16: 17 I rejoice at the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus, because they have made up for your absence, 18 for they refreshed my spirit as well as yours. Give recognition to such people. They are great examples, they did not come to be refreshed by Paul, but they brought refreshment to him. Have you encouraged another to serve God? Have you encouraged one who is in the service of God. Remember service is: SELFLESS EVERYDAY REVERENT VIRTUOUS INSTANT CHRIST CENTRED ENCOURAGING May you serve God with all these things in mind. REACH OUT WITH THE GOSPEL
REACH OUT WITH THE GOSPEL COLOSSIANS 4 3 At the same time pray for us, too, that God will open a door [of opportunity] to us for the word, to proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I have been imprisoned; 4 that I may make it clear [and speak boldly and unfold the mystery] in the way I should. 5 Conduct yourself with wisdom in your interactions with outsiders (non-believers), make the most of each opportunity [treating it as something precious]. 6 Let your speech at all times be gracious and pleasant, seasoned with salt, so that you will know how to answer each one [who questions you]. 1 Thessalonians 3 Finally, brothers and sisters, pray continually for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be honored [triumphantly celebrated and glorified], just as it was with you; We often hear of an opportunity economy, every political statement from whichever party you listen to, says, we are here to create opportunities for people. As Christians, we have constant opportunities to share the gospel, we are called to reach out and tell people thee wonderful news of salvation through faith in Christ alone. Every day we meet many people who seem ok on the outside, but in reality are in deep pain. God brings people across our path every single day, he gives us opportunities to share the gospel, whether by words or Christlike actions. Look at verse 5 and 6 of Colossians 4, we have to treat every person, we talk to or meet as a precious opportunity. Every person is different, they are unique, they will all different needs, but God will bring people across your path, who you are able to share your testimony and life story with us. We do not reach them, just by preaching at them, our words and reactions, are to be seasoned with salt. Are our words gracious and pleasant? Do your words and actions drive people away or draw them nearer to Christ? In letter Q, we talked about being ready to answer people about your faith. I often remember, sharing the gospel and the person concerned just didn't get it, however simple I made it and how many times I explained it. Remember that once you didn't get it once, so be patient and gracious. Sharing the gospel is the most amazing privilege, Jesus reached down and then he reached out, to the poor, helpless and needy. We are to be to be ready to reach out to a needy world, God will bring people across our path, who we can share with. Pray that every day, God will give you doors of opportunity and when he does, seize the opportunity and reach out with Christ's love. A final illustration, years ago in the park, I met a Chinese man, who spoke good English, he was fascinated by me, being English. But what we started talking about was not spiritual, it was Henry the eighth and his six wives, then we moved onto spiritual things. That my friend, it is reaching out and taking every opportunity. Be part of God's opportunity outreach! QUESTIONS QUESTIONS QUESTIONS
QUESTIONS QUESTIONS QUESTIONS 1 PETER 3 15 But in your hearts set Christ apart [as holy—acknowledging Him, giving Him first place in your lives] as Lord. Always be ready to give a [logical] defense to anyone who asks you to account for the hope and confident assurance [elicited by faith] that is within you, yet [do it] with gentleness and respect. People are always asking questions, what happened, who am I and why am I here, are some of the commonest questions asked today. As a Christian, you have the answer to all of life's questions, that is Jesus. In his lifetime, Jesus was asked many questions, the pharisees asked him if he was the Son of Gid, sadly they didn't like the answer. God asked a very important question in the garden of Eden, again man did not want to answer, so he went off and hid himself. The question God is asking you is: Where are you? Are you trying to hide from God? There is no hiding place. Another vital question that you have to answer is this one from Matthew 16 Now when Jesus went into the [c]region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” 14 And they answered, “Some say John the Baptist; others, Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah, or [just] one of the prophets.” 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed), the Son of the living God.” This is the most important question anyone can answer, your eternal destiny depends on your reply to this question. Who is this man Jesus? He claimed to be God in the flesh? In Romans 10, it says this: 9 because if you acknowledge and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord [recognizing His power, authority, and majesty as God], and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart a person believes [in Christ as Savior] resulting in his justification [that is, being made righteous—being freed of the guilt of sin and made acceptable to God]; and with the mouth he acknowledges and confesses [his faith openly], resulting in and confirming [his] salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him [whoever adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Him] will not be disappointed [in his expectations]. The answer is to say, Jesus is my Lord. To believe in your heart and confess it with your mouth. To those who have trusted Christ, now is the time to ask your friends and family, what do they think of Christ, it is time to confess your Saviour before men, it is time for believers to confront the world with the reality of sin, judgement and salvation. Remember the verse in 1 Peter, when we are asked to give a reason for the hope that lies within us, have you an answer?. To do this, you have to soak yourself in the word of God, your whole being must be immersed in God's word. Could you answer a Muslim? Could you answer an atheist? People are asking questions, you have got the true answer Jesus? A final question, if someone came up and asked you on the street: WHY ARE YOU A CHRISTIAN? Could you answer them from the bible? persecuted church
"Only he who can say, 'The Lord is the strength of my life' can say, 'Of whom shall I be afraid?'" ~ Alexander MacLaren VIETNAM: Christians Face Opposition and Violence Source: Voice of the Martyrs Australia Contacts A village in Vietnam. Christian workers in Vietnam are requesting urgent prayer on behalf of believers who have recently experienced situations of severe persecution. In response to the ongoing concern, VOMC's partnering ministry office in Australia has been providing the affected Christians with greatly needed financial assistance. In one village, a group of believers were forced to leave their homes due to the pressures they encountered in the community. Even though these displaced followers of Jesus have thankfully been able to find temporary accommodations with fellow believers, they presently remain without permanent residences of their own. Another Christian known as Mr. Bah was also forced to leave his house after refusing to renounce his faith. He is temporarily staying in the kitchen of his pastor's home. Pastor Dan is an elderly Christian leader who uses his home for church gatherings. On December 23rd, when a group of believers had gathered at the pastor's residence for worship, local authorities – accompanied by other hostile community members described as "thugs" – broke into the pastor's home. The convening church members were physically attacked during the invasion. When Pastor Dan attempted to intervene, the authorities proceeded to severely beat him, consequently breaking his arm and leg. Brother Ting and his family members regularly held church gatherings in their home as well. When local authorities requested that these believers stop meeting for worship, Ting refused. Soon after, the Christian leader was found beaten to death along the side of a road. In addition, the authorities had ordered Ting's wife, Mar, to do community work. After explaining that she was too busy and unable to help, Pastor Ting's wife was found dead in her home about a week after Ting was murdered. Christians in Vietnam, particularly those who live within tribal areas, frequently face opposition from local authorities. To learn more about the suffering of our Vietnamese family in Christ, visit VOMC's country profile. Prayerfully uphold each one of the Vietnamese believers who have been personally affected by these recently occurring acts of opposition. For those who were forced to leave their homes, pray for God's intervention, provision and protection to take place in their lives. Ask the Lord to also provide necessary physical and emotional healing to all who sustained injuries as a result of the devastating attacks. On behalf of the grieving family and friends of Brother Ting and his wife Mar, pray that they will tangibly sense God's unfailing love, comfort, as well as His "peace that surpasses all understanding" (Philippians 4:7). In general, pray that all believers in Vietnam will continue to entrust their lives to the One who holds the future in His hands. COLOMBIA: Pastoring Family Assassinated Sources: El Tiempo, Christian Solidarity Worldwide, VOMC Contact, Defensoría del Pueblo Pastor Marlon Lora and his family. Photo: The Lora family Police are currently investigating the drive-by assassination of Pastor Marlon Lora and his family, which took place on December 29th. Pastor Marlon, his wife Yurlay Rincon – along with their two children, Angela and Santiago – had been finishing lunch when they were suddenly gunned down by men on a motorcycle. The violent attack occurred just metres away from the police station in Aguachica, northern Colombia. In addition to providing leadership to 36 churches across the region, Pastor Marlon personally pastored the Prince of Peace Villaparaguay Church in Aguachica. According to the couple's supervisor, Pastor Giovanni Bermúdez, "Marlon was like many of us pastors; we keep quiet about many things so that everything runs smoothly, even while we carry heavy burdens inside." The motive behind the attack is not yet clear. However, there has been speculation that one of the perpe

PRAYER AND PRAISE ARE POWERFUL PRIVILEGES PSALM 73 28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy works. PSALM 34 I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. Of all the privileges of being a Christian, the ones of bringing our prayers and praises to God, are on the top rung of the ladder. Before we came to faith, we were alienated from God, we were unable to reach him, let alone talk with him, but now because of the sacrificial death of Jesus, we are able to approach God and call him our father. Hebrews 10:19-22 Prayer is not just talking to God and bringing our requests, it is part of it, we are not to come with a big shopping list. God is to be praised first, why because he deserves it, before we ask for anything from him, surely it is right to thank and praise him for all he is and how much he has given us. Prayer changes things, but so does praise, why? Because it takes our focus off ourselves and places it on God. Jesus outlined how we should pray in Matthew 6, Paul prayed for each of the churches he founded in passages such as Philippians 1:9-11 and Ephesians 1:15-23. In Philippians 4:6-7, we are urged to bring our requests to God, in Psalm 62, we are told to empty our hearts in Prayer and in ! thess 5, we are told to pray without ceasing. Prayer is a wonderful privilege, so why is the prayer meeting, the worst attended meeting at virtually every church? God answers the prison cell prayer in Acts 12 and 16, he sends revival through prayer 2 Chronicles 7. Praise to God is best illustrated in the book of Psalms, there are so many psalms that tell us, what to praise and how to praise God. We are to praise him for the following reasons: : For who he is For what he has done for us For what he has given us For salvation and all that entails Prayer and Praise are linked, one place we say them working in conjunction with each other, is in Acts 16: 祷告与赞美是相互关联的,《使徒行传》16 章就是一处体现它们 25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. 26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed. 27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. 28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. 29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, 30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. 32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. Prayer and Praise have dynamic power, both of them working together, not one in isolation, we praise God for who he is and what he has done for us and then we know that when we pray we can come in a bold manner knowing that he will answer us, according to his will. God is worthy to be PRAISED. GOD is pleased to hear both our prayers and our praises. GOD loves to hear our PRAYERS In the summer, I was going round the ruins of Huntingdon castle, this was the birthplace of Oliver Cromwell, Lord Protector of England from 1650-60 and a godly man, there was a stone at the castle, which had these words on it. HE NEVER LEFT FOR BATTLE EXCEPT THROUGH THE HARBOUR OF PRAYER We should never go into daily battle, without prayer. In Ephesians 6, we have the Christian's armour, one is usually overlooked and that is prayer. We need to have our armour on, but if we do not pray, it's worthless. Samson shook himself, he said I will go out as before. How often do we do that? Every day before we go out let's pray. Let's always take advantage of these two awesome privileges, let's pray without ceasing and may God's praise be continually in our mouths. Murray Mcheyne said this on prayer A man i

THE ONE ANOTHERS John 13 34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. Over fifty times in the New testament, we have these one another's, these speak clearly and concisely to us in a way we can understand. We will do a series on these one another's in due course, but here, let's make some general comments about them. First of all: They are direct commands to obey These special phrases are given not as options to us, but commands to obey. Jesus said, if you love me keep my commandments. John 14:15 King James Version 15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. Some of these commands especially relating to forgiveness and being patient, run against our natural inclination. Not only are they direct commands, they are demanding commands. As we have already said, the flow of the world, says that we should care for ourselves, but lots of these commands challenge our mindset to think of ourselves first. These commands demand change, they demand radical discipleship, if these commands were only obeyed by the church, then the world would sit up and take notice of us. Not only are they direct and demanding, they dissect all our thought patterns, the word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than a two-edged sword. Hebrews 4:12-13. They are there to transform our thinking Romans 12:1-2 and 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, we need to constantly cleanse our minds, letting the pure water of the word flow through it. Colossians 3:16. They are also distinctive commands, commands such as love one another and be patient with one another, are not found anywhere else. These things make Christians distinct. What does Christ say, they will know you are Christians by your love for one another, this is what makes Christianity unique. It is not like Buddhism or Islam; it has a deep and dynamic command system that radically transforms the heart. These commands should be our delight, in Psalm 119, the psalmist says, I delight to do thy law. The commands of the Lord are not some burden to us, they are there to set us free. Imagine, if we obeyed the command Forgive one another, how much freedom would that give us. Are the one another's your delight? Finally, they are dynamic, they are life changing. Any church or individual who fully embraces all these one another's in their life and the life of the church, will be transformed. These commands cover the whole sphere of your Christian walk, they cover your personal walk, they cover your walk in church. Please go and find a good bible concordance and find out how many of these one another commands, there are in the NT. It is an exciting journey for you and one that will transform your life, please find out all these wonderful commands and then test yourself. Say: Let's take the command to Love one another. Am I loving people? Am I loving everyone equally? Test yourself and see if you match up. Are you obeying the one another's? If you do, it will totally transform your life. "[Christians] are unknown, yet are condemned; they are put to death, but it is life that they receive. They are poor, and enrich many; destitute of everything, they abound in every- thing. They are dishonoured, and in their dishonour find their glory." ~ From the "Epistle to Diognetus" Unknown 2nd-Century Author NIGERIA: Dozens Killed in Christmas Week Attacks Sources: Release International, International Christian Concern, Morning Star News Christians in NIgeria have faced violence for years. Photo: VOMC Nearly 50 Nigerian Christians were killed in a series of attacks that took place during the week of Christmas. On Sunday, December 22nd, believers in a village located within Nigeria's Plateau State had gathered to celebrate the season by singing carols. As they were leaving, a group of armed Fulani militants opened fire, killing 14 of the attending Christians, including a pregnant woman and a one-year-old child. In a series of separate attacks, Christmas Day became a nightmare for five other Christian communities in the state of Benue. Invaders entered the villages of Anwase, Ubutu, Tse Azege, Nyiev-ya and Ityuluv, setting fire to homes and killing approximately 33 people. In the wake of the devastating raids, which resulted in several deaths and the destruction of many properties, the members of these communities have been left reeling. One resident from Anwase stated that the assault "left the community in shock and mourning." These attacks are reminiscent of the violence that took place in Plateau State during the 2023 Christmas season, resulting in the fatalities of more than 140 citizens. For further reports concerning the suffering of our Christian family in Nigeria, visit VOMC's country profile. Pray for greatly needed peace, comfort and encouragement on behalf of all those who are mourning the loss of their loved ones as a result of these brutal attacks. Ask the Lord to also minister to believers otherwise affected by the violent raids – meeting the spiritual, practical, physical and emotional needs of those who were injured, or have lost their homes, properties and/or livelihoods. May Nigeria's governmental forces take increased action against the horrific destruction caused by militant groups, bringing an end to the reign of indiscriminate terror across large areas of the nation. INDIA: Hindu Nationalists Disrupt Christmas Celebrations Sources: International Christian Concern, Evangelical Fellowship of India, Morning Star News A church in India during the Christmas season. Photo: Wikimedia / Sandipanraha (cc) A wave of violent incidents marred Christmas celebrations across India, even as Prime Minister Modi extolled the virtues of "love" and "harmony" in his Christmas speech and social media posts. The recently occurring acts of violence against followers of Jesus, which took place in at least ten states across India, were particularly instigated by Hindu nationalist groups in their determination to rid the nation of Christian influence. While the southern state of Kerala is generally known for its communal harmony, right-wing activists attacked a government-operated school in Palakkad during the Christmas celebrations, leading to widespread protests. Elsewhere in Kerala, a manger scene was destroyed. In Punjab, a Pentecostal pastor had been attacked for allegedly attempting to convert Hindus. In Rajasthan, teachers and students in schools celebrating Christmas were also assaulted. Additionally, in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, protestors barged into a house where Christians had gathered for worship and demanded that the believers stop the service. Other recent incidents perpetrated by Hindu militants around the country include: harassing a food delivery employee who was dressed as Santa Claus, destroying a statue of Mary (the mother of Jesus), and chanting loudly to drown out the sounds associated with Christmas festivities. In multiple cases across the nation, worship gatherings were also disrupted by protestors. One of the most violent incidents that occurred during the Christmas season involved t

THE LETTER N
NO NO NO! TO THE DEVIL EPHESIANS 4 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. 25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. 26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: 27 Neither give place to the devil. 28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. 29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. 30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. The devil is the Christian's enemy, he hates God Ezekiel 14, but he can never hurt God Genesis 3:15. So who does he go after, that's right, he goes after the Christian and the Church. Every weapon he can muster is targeted on us, we are in the firing line so to speak. He truly, has it in for us, he is like a roaring lion: 1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: He wants to devour us, he is seeking those he can devour, how does he do this: In this passage, we have some of the weapons that the devil uses to trap the Christian, do you notice that he uses our emotions, he gets us to be angry, that's an emotion, it isn't a wrong emotion, if it's focused on the right thing, Jesus was angry at what was happening in the temple, but he did not sin. Every trap that the devil lays in this passage, is answered by the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, speaking through Paul, God wants you to give no place to the devil, here's how you do it. In verses 24-25, we have to put something on and take something off, it is like morning and evening, in the morning, you put on new clothes, you take off the old clothes, this is the same with the Christian. COLOSSIANS 3 7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. 8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. 9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; 10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: The putting on and taking off is a continuous thing, just like the filling of the spirit Ch 5:18, every day and indeed every moment, we have to be taking off our old clothes and putting on new clothes, how can we do this: Romans 12 tells us: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. We are to be moulded by God's word. How much time do you spend in God's word each day? Now compare how much time you spend playing on your cell phone and watching rubbish on TV? We need to have our minds cleansed, by God's spirit using God's word, this is the only formula. We need to: Colossians 3 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. We need to let the word of God dwell in our hearts and lives, to dwell, means to take up residence, we are to welcome it, it must be the primary guest in our hearts. SAY THIS AS YOUR READ YOUR BIBLE Word of God I welcome you, speak to me as I meditate on your truth. As we meditate on God's word, it will bring overflowing joy, we will sing aloud of our God and it will touch our fellow believers. Remember, the devil hates to hear Christian

At China Partnership, we place a high value on cities. As I wrote in my introductory piece to 2024, Chinese cities have a special place in the work of the kingdom of God. With thousands of people moving into Chinese cities each year, urban churches have a unique opportunity to be “cities on a hill,” kingdom communities that exemplify the love, joy, peace, hope, and righteousness of Christ to their neighbors. Because of this belief, we spent all of 2024 praying for Chinese cities. We prayed for a different city each month, drawing our prayer requests from the Christians that call those cities home. The feedback we have received from this prayer focus–as well as our own internal experience–has been fantastic. So much so, that in 2025 we’re going to do it all over again. In 2025, we’ll be praying for eleven more cities. Just as we did last year, we have intentionally chosen cities to represent multiple regions within China, from the cold northeast to the more tropical southwest. Though these cities are all a part of China, they are incredibly diverse, each with its own unique history and church context. To prepare our hearts for another year of praying for Chinese cities, we first want to step back and pray for China as a whole. This January, we will spend four weeks reminding ourselves about the “big vision” of why we pray for Chinese cities, and praying for the entire country. Our prayer schedule will look like this: Week 1 - Praying for China as a whole: city vision Week 2 - Praying for China as whole: by area of ministry Week 3 - Praying for China as a whole: by region Week 4 - Praying for China as a whole: renewal for Lunar New Year We hope you will join us as we begin 2025 praying for cities across China. We pray that the Holy Spirit prepares your heart well for praying for Chinese cities this year! This Week's Prayer Guide January 5 - This week, we will prepare our hearts to pray for more cities in China in 2025. To begin, we will pray for the Holy Spirit to give churches in China a “city vision,” that they may be shaped by the gospel in how they view their cities and how they live in them. May they be Christ’s ambassadors to the cities where they live. January 6 - We believe cities in China need transformation by grace. Pray for cities in China to experience this transformation in 2025, and for God to use churches within these cities to help bring about this transformation. January 7 - A Christian leader in China reminds us: “When you pray for a city according to God’s heart, you will see God working in that city.” Prayer is effective and powerful. It is the main avenue by which we see God’s rule affect change. Pray for believers in Chinese cities to be deeply rooted in prayers, that they would see God working in their cities in 2025. January 8 - Matthew 5:14 calls Christian churches to be a “city on a hill” within their cities. Pray for churches in China to be a “city on a hill,” an alternative community to the cities around them, exemplifying the way of the cross. January 9 - Pray that churches in China would be communities defined by the love of Christ: first, that they would be a people who deeply experience Christ’s love for them. Second, that they would love Christ in return. Third, that they would love each other as brothers and sisters. And fourth, that they would reach out to the lost and broken around them with the love of Christ. January 10 - Pray for Christian unity within churches in China, both for churches within the same city and for churches from different cities. May God bring his people together to show his goodness to the world. January 11 - A Christian leader in China reminds us why it is important to pray for Christians in other cities and other countries: “We are all in God’s kingdom, and we need to support each other, to have a kingdom mindset.” Pray for more mutual love and encouragement of Christians in Chinese cities in 2025, that together we may have a kingdom mindset.

china prayer guide
This Week's Prayer Guide December 29 - As we close 2024 and enter 2025, we are doing a special week of prayer where we pray Philippians 2:5-11 over the house church in China. To begin, pray that, in their relationships with one another, our brothers and sisters in China would “have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.” (Phil 2:5) December 30 - Pray that the church in China would model Christ, who “being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage.” (Phil 2:6) December 31 - On this New Year’s Eve, pray that Christians in China would live like Christ, who “made himself nothing, by taking the very nature of a servant.” (Phil 2:7) January 1 - As we enter this new year, pray for Christians in China to “die with Christ,” to be humble and obedient as Christ was, “even death on a cross!” (Phil 2:8) January 2 - Praise God for Christ’s ascension! Pray for Christians in China to cling to the fact that Christ has been raised “to the highest place” and has been given “the name that is above every name.” (Phil 2:9) And they have been raised with him! January 3 - In the midst of difficult times, pray that Christians in China will remember “that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.” (Phil 2:10). No earthly kingdom can overcome him! January 4 - Pray for the church in China to be an active witness to Christ, that more people in China may take part in this promise: “every tongue [will] acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
