time sensitive - quick vote, some weekend details, etc. 5
Hello Sisters, We’re just a few weeks away from gathering, and we have a time-sensitive thing as well as some ‘regular’ info. ? First, please complete the google form survey. It is VERY SHORT. Emily is proposing the idea of her inviting some people she knows to come be additional role players for our Constellation work. We want to hear your vote on this. Here's the survey: https://forms.gle/WqU7zHf9v2q8g28VA. We’re asking for a response by noon-ish EDT on Tuesday, April 8th so that we can give Emily our answer. Second, for our sleeping preferences: Meggie has gathered info about this in the past, and she’s planning to use that for this weekend as well. However, if that’s changed for you, please email her directly and we’ll adjust. She will send out the sleep plan prior to our weekend. Third, more info will be forthcoming about additional specifics, but we wanted to send a reminder about what we agreed to regarding meal-stuff. If you’d like to switch with someone, please contact them directly. Predictable food assignments (won’t generally change unless someone asks to change their assignment or if someone does not attend): Saturday Lunch: Marsia: entrée Matooka: entree or soup Kate Z: salad RayRay: protein Jill: salad dressing, soup Paige: bread and butter for whole weekend Sunday Dinner: Noreen: entrée Abigail: entree Gretchen: soup and/or snacks Meggie: salad, toilet paper, and firewood Katie: dessert That’s it for now! Love, Co-Foes

Kelly Checking In 6
Hello Sisters! With our SSR weekend fast approaching, I wanted to make sure to let everyone know that I will not be attending. I won't be at our SSR weekend because it conflicts with a very special Burja family event. My nephew, Adian, will be turning the BIG 1-8 this year! Yes, I said 18!!!! WHAT!!!! His birthday is April 26th, which is the Saturday of our SSR weekend. My family is planning to do a weekend-long birthday celebration for him, since he's turning such a significant age. On Saturday, Aidan and I are going to do our customary 1:1 birthday celebration where it's just the two of us and he gets to completely dictate where we go and what we do for the entire day. I've been doing this birthday tradition with him every year since he was 3-years-old, and it's something that's become very special to both of us. On Sunday, we are going to have a big family birthday celebration for him at his favorite restaurant. We hope to make it a special weekend for him! In the past when his birthday has conflicted with our April weekend, I've been able to attend SSR by asking Aidan's permission to postpone his special day with me by a week. That's what I did last year when he turned 17. This year, however, it's really important to me (and I hope to him) that I'm there on his actual birthday to celebrate such a big milestone in his life. I'm really sorry I will not be in attendance at our upcoming weekend. I know what it feels like having someone absent and how much of a void it creates. If I could be in two places at once, I would. I do plan on attending opening circle via Zoom, so I'll get to hear everyone's check-in and everyone will get to hear mine.....and heads-up.....my check-in is going to be GOOOOOOOOOOD.....probably my best check-in ever! Stay tuned! Love, Kelly

WAS: How things are going (for Fed Workers) NOW: Options for charged discussion threads 4
I looked at the documentation for 开云体育, and I see three possibilities: MAKE A SECOND EMAIL LIST: Create a new 开云体育 specifically for "charged discussions" or whatever you want to call it. A separate email list for those who want to have these kinds of discussions on email. Pros: Keeps these discussions entirely separate. Women can come and go from this other list as they please, or turn off notices for a while if a give thread on it is really bothering you and you don't want to engage. Given my history of managing our group email, I would say this option is the simplest and best because there is not all that much tech-savvy for email groups here that is needed for the other options. (No offense, them's just the facts as I see them.) Cons: Involves setting up another free group and managing it. Not onerous, but has to be done. USE KEYWORD IN SUBJECT LINE ON EXISTING EMAIL LIST: Agree that we start putting a safe word (or maybe an "unsafe word", LOL) in the subject line of messages that will contain whatever charged topics we think should have such a warning. (For example: HOT TOPIC: Politics --or preferably, specifically the political topic you are talking about so people can know what they're getting into before reading) Pros: Simple, doesn't require a new email list. Cons: People have to remember to use the safe word in the subject line. When we forget, need to apologize and others need to forgive. Also, people who don't want to see unsafe topics have to remember not to read them, and if they accidentally or intentionally read such messages and get upset, not take it out on those having the discussion. USE "FOLLOWING" SETTINGS ON EXISTING EMAIL LIST: Each person can go to the groups.io site, login, and in their settings for this group, pick one of two options: Decide that you won't receive ANY messages except threads (messages with a given subject line) that you "opt in" to receive. This means regularly visiting the 开云体育 website and scanning the group's messages looking for threads you want to follow. Pros: You can completely avoid anything you don't want to read Cons: I do not see this likely to work well. Many will forget and miss important messages about our gatherings. Decide that you always receive the FIRST message in any new thread. If you want to see subsequent messages with that subject line, you click the "follow this thread" link in the email footer. Pros: You don't have to regularly go to the groups.io site and scan for any new activity and follow that which you wish to see. You opt in in your email inbox. Cons: This is not that much better than option 3a, in that a lot of us don't check email regularly enough and i'm not sure what happens if you're late to opt in to important threads about our gatherings, or non-charged discussions; do you get all the messages that happened since the first one, or only those that start coming after you opt in. (I think you could always go to the 开云体育 website and see the messages you missed, but again, not sure women are likely to do that.) The options under #3 are meant for more traditional email discussion groups where people are on them because they're gathering info, networking, etc. Like a group of coders who know they can go on a list to ask questions or look to see if others have answered a question they have. Or a music lovers group where you only want to see the Taylor Swift related posts and not thousands of others. They help limit the amount of email one gets from a very active list. I don't see a way we can use the existing list, but have messages with certain subjects come only to people who've opted in to get certain subjects. But I am very busy, so I only did a cursory look through the admin manual. If anyone else wants to dig deep in the 开云体育 documentation, feel free. My perspective on doing any of the above: While I might be willing to follow out of curiosity if some women opt to have email discussions like this, I'm unlikely to post myself or reply. It's too hard to convey tone on email and you can't see the other person's reactions

How things are going (for Federal Workers)...and a request 9
Hello Friends and Family of mine- Below is an email from my cousin Erica Bollerud. She works for the EPA. My neice Erin (Farrell) Wilson works for NASA. I have other friends who also work for the Federal Government. I can't begin to imagine how destabilizing it must be on the receiving end of such fast and furious edicts being sent out daily! If you are feeling called to DO something, given the planned chaos of the incoming administration, Erica has an update on how things are going (at the EPA), ways to contact your members of Congress and links to resources and information. Thank you, Paige -------- Original message -------- From: Erica Bollerud <erica.bollerud@...> Date: 2/2/25 1:59 PM (GMT-05:00) To: Subject: How things are going...and a request Dear family & friends- I am reaching out to ask a favor. Will you contact your members of Congress and ask them to stop the onslaught of illegal and unjust actions of the new Administration? As a federal employee who, yes, received an email this past week asking me to resign from my job, I am being targeted. I fully expect things to get worse for me personally before they get better. I have no intention of accepting the scammy, illegal "deferred resignation" offer, but as someone who works on climate change, I have no reason to believe they won't turn on me/EPA next, and will ignore my union's collective bargaining agreement and employment law while doing so. Since Elon Musk now has access to the Office of Personnel Management's massive data files on every federal employee, as well as now having access to the Treasury Department's payment system (the source of social security and medicare payments, in addition to every other federal payment), it's reasonable to think that this could all happen very quickly and on a massive scale....if we let the new administration make good on these threats. This targeting of federal workers is on top of egregious ICE raids, executive orders rolling back diversity efforts, transgender recognition and protection, illegal freezes on spending that had been legally obligated to non-profits, States, Local governments, and Tribal governments. This avalanche of threats is intended to scare, overwhelm, and freeze us all. If my job disappears I like to think that I will be ok; I will figure things out for myself. But there are many, many people who are far more vulnerable than I am, and who won't be able to weather this storm that has been unleashed. I believe we all need to do what we can to stand up to these threats, and to minimize the damage as much as we can. Please contact your members of Congress, and tell them to stand up against this onslaught! Let them know you aren't interested in living under a dictator who can break all the rules. If not for me, think of all the chaos that will ripple out from these illegal, unjust orders, frozen spending, and from letting unelected, unvetted billionaires run amok within our government. You can use Resistbot or look up your members of Congress. Thank you for considering this request and for reading this long message! Love, Erica

Update on my mom 6
Yesterday I dropped off my mom at physical therapy and she seemed fine. Picked her up an hour later and the therapist said she had starting speaking in gibberish on and off, and that I should take her to the ER. So i collected my aunt (her sister) on the way and we went to the ER. I've been here all night although Dane came and spelled me for a bit this morning so I could go home and shower, change. Susan (my sister) is coming from Kansas City in about an hour. Mom probably had a transient ischemic attack (TIA), basically a transient stroke where the blood vessels narrow for a bit, but then for whatever reason the blood starts getting through again. Also her sodium was low. So far she's been on IV to get her sodium back up but nothing else. They plan to add baby aspirin to her daily meds to try to prevent more TIAs. She hasn't been speaking gibberish since she was in the ER where they started the sodium IV. Not that she feels good, just it's not nonsense. Brains are so weird, she would try to talk and hear herself and she knew the words didn't make sense; weren't what she was trying to say. Last night after transferring from ER to hospital room she had stopped the gibberish but remained confused. Kept thinking she was in the hospital for constipation (something that troubles her regularly because of the different drugs she is on). Therapy will be here at some point today to see what her balance, standing, sitting, walking,, etc are like to evaluate if she's safe to go home, so they think she will likely be here for observation until tomorrow. Hard to imagine given the state she's in at the moment that she could be alone at home any time soon. This situation may move forward the idea of assisted living that we have floated with her before with limited success. Or maybe she will rebound considerably, you never know. Tired... Matooka update 5
Hello Sisters, I am updating you all with my blood pressure situation in particular sisters who witnessed my check in. Thank you to sisters who messaged me. For ease I copied and pasted my response to share here. I went to the ER yesterday and they told me after having an EKG and regular blood pressure checking that there was nothing wrong with my heart and they did bloodwork and it looks like my thyroid numbers are off and that can affect things. So I’m hoping that that’s the answer. I welcome any energy support if you feel guidance. Much love and gratitude, Matooka

It's my birthday 4
How are you all today? I am 55 today. It snowed here yesterday, but fortunately cleared up well enough that last night, Dane and I could safely drive to Kansas City to Lonnie's Reno Club, a jazz supper club in the lower level of the Ambassador Hotel downtown. We met a friend of mine from high school and his wife. It was a great, if expensive, evening. Great food, three course fixed price meal, and great cocktails. Lonnie McFadden is a high energy singer, trumpeter, and tap dancer and puts on a great show. He also had fabulous musicians with him, young people on piano, upright bass, and drums that were just top notch. (I remembered after the evening was over that I'd seen him once before years ago. He used to tap dance at a bar with his brother. They would tap dance ON the bar; it was something to see!) I have been enjoying having a new kitten in the house. See attached photo. She was born to a feral cat that hangs around my mom's house. Two weeks ago she was wild and scared, fighting for a place at the food bowl among three teenage cats who'd swat her away (the previous batch of kittens). I fished her out of the basement window well she fell in, and she hissed and spit at me. Now she has free run of my house and is slowly cultivating a relationship with my three-year old cat Squiggy. Since his brother Lenny disappeared, I decided to call this new kitten Lenore, and Lenny for short, so that I'll have a Lenny & Squiggy again (if you don't know those names, here's a compilation of their comical entrances on Laverne & Shirley: https://youtu.be/hPfmEN6i76g?si=NTvGQ6pTLc6WG3Br). (If I lose Squiggy too soon I might rename her Laverne and go find a Shirley to keep her company, heh heh) We had a lovely Thanksgiving at my mom's house. Susan and Scott made the turkey, sweet potatoes, and green beans and brought rolls and apple pie. I made the stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry relish, and pumpkin pie. Dane and I went over the night before to set the table and tried to clear some of the stuff from the kitchen counters so there would be room for prep and to set up the buffet, but my mom resisted. She didn't NEED her calendar for several days, but is very resistant to anything changing. It's been rough. She gets worse later in the day and often very agitated (sundowning). I went to a dispensary and got cannabis gummies that are supposed to be fast acting to give her when she gets like this, but so far they haven't seemed to do anything. We tried 1 gummy, then 1.5, then 1.75--that seemed to at least do a little to calm her down. Might go straight to two next time, because the effect didn't seem to last long. She has fallen a couple of times, and while we were there tottering right in front of the stairs to the basement, so it may be that we are simply going to have to force her into assisted living before much longer. We were hoping she would recognize the need but I don't think that's going to happen. We are going to have Christmas Eve at her house like we always have but I'm wondering if it will be our last time. And then have my dad's side of the family over a few days after Christmas. As long as we handle absolutely everything for her (of course) we can do it. That's true of everything about her life though. I go over every morning to give her her morning pills and feed the feral cats. She is alone most days otherwise, unless I take her to the doctor, go back to visit a bit, or if her sister visits her or takes her to church. She's been refusing to go to church for several weeks now though. I did get her out of the house for a quick visit to the coffee shop a couple of weeks ago. And my aunt took her to doctor, senior center for lunch, and walmart one day last week when I was working from her house (like she begs me to do) but was agitated and I needed to lead an important client call and couldn't get her to stop asking me questions. Bless my aunt for turning up, taking her out and distracting her for several hours! (I was also working there that day because I was waiting for the garage door repair person to come over--and
