Honestly, don’t worry about memory unless you are running ASL3 and a bunch of other stuff on the same rPi along with your node. Even a 512MB rPi 3 model A Plus running HamVoIP has plenty of memory free if you are just using it as a single user radio node, and not doing anything extravagant.
8GB is definitely a waste in that context. If you use HamVoIP, that distribution is 32 bit, so half of that memory can’t even be addressed.

I’m first would say I’m a newbie to Allstar and I’m looking for help with understanding a few items.
1) Am I correct the Shari Pi4U would plug into a USB port on my Raspberry Pi?
2) Once I have the image from the link Steve provided me, I would be able to access the Shari with my HT?

I have put together a script and files that will enable an auto-wifi-hotspot on the ASL3 image.

?

If no network is present, it will create an access point with the name ASL3_{MAC_ADDRESS}.

?

When you connect to it, it uses the sing-in feature to redirect you to the wifi sign on page where it scans nearby wifi.

?

Pick your WiFi and give it your password and then select Save and Reboot and it will reboot and be connected to your network.

?

I found that when i installed Broadcastify it caused issues. I have had to reformat the SD card and start over.
i just found this out. i am not sure what is causing yours, but you might look at the way you have SA818 prog setup,?
as well as the simple usb manager, i had issues because i had mine set up wrong. if you know someone that has one,
look at their setup and program your same way.

I did a fresh install and it works fine, but when I install autosky and broadcastily it messes up. So no extras and it's normal.? I am also using v1.7.

Both USB ports plug into the raspberry pi.? It get its power from the pi. You do not need a Shari node unless you want to run an analog radio separately.?? You do need an allstar node with dvswitch server loaded on to act as a bridge to what ever digital mode you want.?? You can use dvswitch mobile app to connect to any allstar node it does not need a node to do that. You can connect to say my node directly. It is built into the app

Hi Steve, I have managed to get the ShariZero Node running on ASL3 which up to now has been running since kit purchase with Hamvoip.

Allmon3, Supermon 7.4 and Allscan are also working without issue.

I was wondering if you or any user, have got the COS light working and if so what programming is required?

Please excuse my lack of knowledge in this area, but I hope you can help me understand what I’m getting. I was told I need a device like yours to connect the DVswitch mobile app to and connect to Allstar.

1) What are the 2 USB ports used for? I presume one is a connection to the PC?

2) Is a power supply come with Pi3U or Pi4U? If not, what do I need to power the board?

3 Do either of the units come with an Ethernet connection? If not, do i connect to my WI-FI?
