¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThe value printed on the back is the correct specified fuse rating. ?Required by safety rules to be printed. ? 1/4amp = 30watts a@ 120V. ? There is more than enough to run a tuner. ?If it blows, there is something wrong with the T101.

Re: Service manual / schematics for T101
Crickets on this one. The reason I¡¯m asking is because the one I just picked up came with a 5 amp fuse in it. On the back it calls for a 1/4 amp I believe, but it blows anything that small. Just wondering what the specs say it needs. Anyone else come across this issue?
Thanks in advance |

Revised 6/17/04 Mark Gurries ======== LIST RULES ========== This list has a set of rules governing the discussion topics so that we maintain the focus of the group. LIMITED SALES OF ANY PRODUCT OR MERCHANDISE INCLUDING SAE STUFF 1) No UNSOLICITED direct offers of "FOR SALE" items allowed on this SAE-TALK list. This list is not an EBAY or Audiogon. Only in rare, special cases are sales allowed upon the PRIOR discretionary approval of the Moderator. It better be very special!!! Everyday SAE stuff sold on EBAY is not special. 2) If one wishes to SELL something IN RESPONSE to a request "I'm looking for", do the actual sales OFF this list. 3) We can talk about items posted for sale in a public forum (EBAY/AUDIOGON) as long as it is related to Q&A in the spirit of this list function (production history, design, modifications, cost history, possible problems with the products and technical stuff). If this stuff gets out of hand, sales of any kind will be banned. REPAIR SERVICES Offers to do repair services or are allowed. However, all offers must be in direct RESPONSE to a request like "I'm looking for someone to repair...". Final discussions for actual work must be made OFF list. No SOLICITATION or independent advertisements allowed on the list. Repair Shops may post DIRECT weblinks to their place of business in the LINKS folder of this list website. If this stuff gets out of hand, it will be banned. POSTING OF TECHNICAL INFORMATION Offers to supply technical information or documentation are allowed. However, all offers must be in direct RESPONSE to a request like "I'm looking for someone who has a schematic too...". Final discussions for actual transfer of information must be made OFF list. No SOLICITED or independent advertisements allowed on the list. Unfortunately there is not enough disk space on the Yahoo list website to store all the technical information about Audio products we talk about. However, everyone is encouraged to post WEBLINKS to show where one can get documentation and information. This can include places that sell documentation. Weblinks are to be placed in the LINKs area of this list website. USAGE OF THE FILES AREA There are many folders containing information in the Files area. However space is VERY limited. At this time, people must obtain permission from a list moderator to post files in this area. We are trying to store information that is not publicly available or is very rare. USAGE OF THE PHOTO AREA. If you have some pictures of equipment you would like to post, this is the place to do it. However, space for these photos is shared with all the other files of this list. Keep the photo images small and compressed. Keep them to about 40K each. Moderators reserve the right to remove photos at any time as needed to manage the website disk space. MESSAGE CONDUCT Everyone must respect each other on this list. ANYONE with direct personal derogatory comments about another person in terms of them being a human being is not allowed. Technical debates, however heated, must not use foul language. Repeated offenses (they are accumulative) can lead to banning from the list. THE 10 Commandments of Email: Thou shalt include a clear and specific subject line. Thou shalt edit any quoted text down to the minimum thou needest. Thou shalt read thine own message thrice before thou sendest it. Thou shalt ponder how thy recipient might react to thy message. Thou shalt check thy spelling and thy grammar. Thou shalt not curse, flame, spam or USE ALL CAPS. Thou shalt not forward any chain letter. Thou shalt not use e-mail for any illegal or unethical purpose. Thou shalt not rely on the privacy of e-mail, especially from work. When in doubt, save thy message overnight and reread it in the light of the dawn. And, here's the "Golden Rule" of E-Mail: That which thou findest hateful to receive, sendest thou not unto others. |

Sumo Electra preamp and Sumo Andromeda amplifier fully reconditioned...should I buy them?
New member. First post. I am coming here because I hear this is THE place to find the most pertinent information on James Bongiorno designed equipment. This thread is not a solicitation. This is for my own personal ownership only. I have the unique opportunity to purchase a complete equipment rack from the son of the original owner. Most pieces include the original packages and paperwork. The prizes of this collection are already in my possession?a pair of JBL 250Ti speakers.? Now I have to decide on the rest of the collection. Sumo Andromeda amplifer Sumo Electra preamp Phase Linear Tuner T5200 Sony CD player?CDP-997 Aiwa tape deck F770 Oak equiment rack on casters with glass doors All cables included The Sumo Andromeda and Electra were sent in for complete repair/reconditioning in 2015 at Soundsmith Corp in NY for a repair cost of $1950. Yeah, I know, I would have just bought some new gear too, but what is done is done.? In the recent past I have seen 2 examples of Sumo Andromeda in fully restored condition sell for $700 in a retail setting, so I am assuming that a good portion of the current owners repair costs will be lost on a resale. I am not sure about the preamp, but I hear it is recommended for vinyl setups due to a capable phono preamp circuit. I do not do vinyl myself, but would still think keeping this equipment together would be of greater importance. My use is 25% 2 channel music from digital sources and 75% home theater surround using restored JBL and Klipsch in 2 seperate listening rooms all run through current flagship Denon receivers and external amplification by way of ATI amplifiers.? So the questions I have are: Should I buy these items, or save the cash for other gear? I have always collected speakers, and not equipment. Should I buy the rack as a whole? The current owner is moving, downsizing, and not interested in audio any longer. Or should I focus on 1 or 2 items only? If you can, within the rules of the group, list a good offer $$$ so I can respond to the owner. If you can provide a range that would help. I am not sure how the rules here work but maybe someone could say something like " If it is less than $XXX then I would jump on it, but more than that and I would walk? Can you tell me what to look for on the repair? Are there certain components, opamps, capacitors, etc., that would help me determine if the items are of a certain build version that would be of special interest? |

Re: Temperature imbalance on A502 amplifier
I have all sections of the amp closer in temperature. Now I think I have to address the bias. I do not know the published nominal bias. It is not listed in the schematics I have.? Also I imagine there are all sorts of components drifting from spec. I preemptively replaced all of the small electrolytic caps with high quality replacements since that was inexpensive. For a 30 year old amp it was probably due. Since there is no bias pot on this model I will have to dial in bias by replacing a fixed resistor. Each channel has 3 test pins. From what I gather the two outer pins are connected to the emitters of the complimentary transistors to measure bias and the center pin is there to measure DC offset. I can get the offset to zero but what value should I be shooting for with regard to bias? Right now I think it is too high. Thanks for any help.
