New FT-5DR
羲堁极郤Hello, ? My now you probably have seen that Yaesu has come out with a new C4FM handheld.? The new FT5DR. ? I have not read the details of this unit but on the surface it appears almost identical to the FTM3D.? Does anybody know what some of the distinctive features are of this unit? ? Please advise. ? Some details.
Plus advanced features of the new FT5DR are: Wireless hands-free operation using the optional Bluetooth? headset (SSM-BT10); VOX function; Memory Auto Grouping (MAG); VFO Band Skip Function; Wide-range RX coverage with continuous reception from 0.5MHz每999.99MHz (A Band) & 108MHz每580MHz (B Band); Built-in high-sensitivity 66 channel GPS receiver; 1200/9600bps APRS Data modem; 2,200mAh High-Capacity Li-ion Battery Pack (SBR-14LI) as standard; Voice Recording Function; Simultaneous AM/FM broadcast Reception while monitoring two frequency channels; Micro SD Card Slot.
? ? ? ? New Quick Release Holster (SHB-26) is included in the FT5DR package as a supplied accessory that allows single-touch attaching and detaching the transceiver while wearing the holster on a belt. Sounds like they've incorporated the firmware from the FTM-300 (MAG, high resolution bandscope, 66 channel GPS, etc) into the FT5.? ? I have an FTM-300, and really, really like the MAG function.? I enter a frequency into memory, and it's automatically grouped by VHF/UHF/AIR/All.? ?Toggle through band will take you through the groups.? Very handy if you keep a large number of frequencies in memory.? The menu is also much easier to use than the FT2. 73 Don? Ki5AIU |

In addition to what Don mentioned, it's more ruggedized in it's construction.
What I am happy about is the higher IPX rating and 1 Watt speaker. The FT3DR is IPX5, while the FT5DR will be IPX7. If my understanding of the IP ratings is correct, the FT5DR should be rated for submersion between 15cm to 1m for a maximum of 30 minutes. 1 Watt speaker will be nice as well in noisy areas. |

If coming from I35, use our 146.780 repeater located at I35 in Live Oak and switch then switch?over to 147.160 once your North of Buda. ?This will carry you to Temple. I am excited for the upcoming Sisterdale repeater site to come on board. ?Our joint network is growing and we are?certainly hearing?more activity but it is manageable. ?Please come over and enjoy the fun on C4FM on the KARS 444.900 repeater. What a great club KARS is and I*m so happy to be a member of this club and an owner of our SADRC network. ?SADRC has plans of putting up 2 more sites and we are focusing on the San Marcos area 73 Doug Svitchan N8IQT On Wednesday, August 18, 2021, 7:21 AM, Don Udel <donudel@...> wrote:
