S2-27 renovation with carpet headliner removed

A S2-27 owner on Reddit's sailing forum has posted photos of his interior carpet removal and faring of the interior fiberglass. ?I can't imagine how much lung clogging work this was, but the results look very nice.

I've been thinking about pealing back the liner on my 7.9, but I always figured I'd put monkey fur back up again.? Can anyone speculate if this is a better option?

Was the fairing with epoxy or resin.? Seems like lots of work to me for minimal gain, where the monkey fur would restore the "look" keep the sound deadening, and be quicker and easier.

I went the route you describe, and for the reasons you give. Super satisfied. Plus the carpeting provides thermal insulation: helps keep you warm inside the cabin when it’s cold outside at night. Have used a small electric shore power heater and have been cozy during low 30s outside. Also helps keep you cool inside the cabin when it’s hot outside.

Replacement carpeting is easy to find, not expensive, and easy to stick on with 3M 77 super spray (don’t breathe the spray).
