LOTUS ESPRIT S1

I have a 1977 lotus Esprit S1 ,
Signal Red gelcoat 199H in?
"PRESTINE CONDITION"
Although everything is working as it should. I am researching in the event the single headlights motor should show any sign of failure.
1. How reliable is the? single headlights motor? And should, I be concerned.
2. Is there an alternative single motor, from another brand of car that would work. If so what brand of motor and make of car does it come from ? And how involved is it to swap. And would it utilize same switch on the binnicale.
3. Has anyone? replaced the single motor on a lotus Esprit S1 with a linear actuator.? Please any advice will be greatly appreciated. And please, if you respond to these questions. " PLEASE" kindly be detailed in your reply / explanation. As , I will be using your method if you feel your improvement was effective. Thanks ? so much in advance. I am in the NIAGARA ONTARIO CANADA are. If anyone, is close and would like to meet up and go over ideas. My S1 runs FANOMINAL. Anyone has some questions for me as well and , I can be of help.?

Regarding question #1:
I own 139H. Most everything is original, including the headlight system. It still works fine going on almost 5 decades of use. I have no plans to make any changes.

I am among those who've refreshed the headlamp motor, 2 in this case for my S2 and I can assure you they are reasonably robust and not terribly difficult to rebuild in our situation. I am inclined to upgrade things considered below par on my Lotus, and did consider creating a linear actuator mod but decided it was not at all worth the bother.

One thing I would recommend to all is to change out the rod end links to modern ones which have zero play in them. I hope it will reduce or eliminate the jiggle visible when driving over uneven pavement at night. At the same time one may swap the adjuster rod for one that is both M and F threaded, making it an easier job to adjust the resting position of the pods.
