Lotus Esprit S1
The lotus Esprit S1 doesn't have an upper control arm stiffening bar on top of the drive axles. Like the S3 pictures that , I have included in this Email. ?I am wondering if there is a solution for the S1 to minimize shock load on the driveshafts to the gearbox.? These pictures, I have included don't show exactly where this bar is connected?to. ?If someone with an S3 would post some pictures. ?As , I a retired METAL FABRICATOR and once ,I know the connection points of this upper control arm rod. ?I couldn't fabricate a bolt on kit for, ?S1 and S2 cars. Thanks ? guys. |
A conversion kit would have to consist of top links, plus replacement
hub carriers and driveshafts and you'd still be feeding the lower link loads into the gearbox. Buy an S3 rolling chassis. Alternatively, stock up on wheelbearings and driveshaft UJs and keep on driving. On Mon, 16 Dec 2024 at 12:39, P. via groups.io <pasqualeelauqsap850@...> wrote:

开云体育Lotus Prepared by Claudius did used to offer a kit. From the pictures, I remember it included welded on extensions for the top of the hub carriers for the upper control arms, the upper arms and an inner mount. And axles with, I believe, CV joints. ?I dont recall if the inner mount bolted to the chassis or required welding. ?The hub carriers though were modified by welding. ?They were pricy back then. ?I lusted after them for a long time but never bought one. ?Now I have a Turbo Esprit which has all of that plus working AC so I’m glad I kept my S1 stock, as now it’s part of the charm for me. ?I like the lightness and simplicity of the S1 but the Turbo Esprit is a better car. ?I dont know if they got the geometry right or not. ?I was always nervous about that, I’ve been on this list for about 25 years and I dont remember anybody ever having one, and I didnt want to be the Guinness pig. ?Lots of people talked about it but I dont remember anyone ever doing it.?Dave C On Dec 16, 2024, at 12:04?PM, ZenHorizon via groups.io <zenhorizon@...> wrote:

I've seen the Lotus PBC kit on a body-less chassis in person and it is quite nice. But it does require extensive fabrication and welding to make it work. It is a nice upgrade but I agree with the comment on stacking up on wheel bearings and driveshaft UJs, especially with how inexpensive they are in relation.? |
Selbe , I am a retired structural steel and metal fabricator. Making a kit and welding it on, is not a big deal for me.? I would like to know the mounting points. If a kit has already been make and a better picture of the set up, on the later GIUGIARO cars. Then , I can evaluate the set up and likely can come up with a kit that could possibly be a bolt on set up. If someone has some better pictures for me to work with. Thanks ?
