The Last 20 Seconds of “Cinnamon Girl”
I've always loved the brief, intense, and weird power and mystery of Cinnamon Girl -- here's a pretty interesting in-depth look and analysis of the great last 20 seconds of that song!: "The lore surrounding the song “Cinnamon Girl” by Neil Young and Crazy Horse is extensive. Recorded and released in 1969 on Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, it is one of Young’s most beloved songs and an unassailable classic. Stories about the song abound, such as how it was one of three songs written in a day by Young while in the midst of a fever, the one-note guitar solo, and the mystery surrounding the true identity of the song’s titular character. Yet there is one aspect of “Cinnamon Girl” that remains overlooked: the last 20 seconds." https://reclinernotes.com/2024/10/27/the-last-20-seconds-of-cinnamon-girl/ JC

Re NEIL YOUNG SOUNDTRACK SERIES
7
Hi All, I am not a member of NYA - buying his archives is expensive enough , ha, ha. I am intrigued to know whether a member of the NYA can ask Neil, if Journey Through The Past will be included in this series, the Soundtrack Series Not Neil's finest, but the CSNY version of Ohio/ Find the Cost of Freedom is just the best ever. Vol III group watch on zoom!!
I am thinking of doing a zoom to watch Vol III blurays on Sundays, a couple times of month, at 1pm EST. Anyone interested in joining? I am thinking of doing one movie a showing. I have a HD player on my computer, so the quality should be as good as your equipment allows. The benefit will be that we can chat via typing or stop every so often and talk, as the group decides for that particular day. I would do at least one a month, in the winter, maybe more often depending on my schedule. Let me know. I have to decide how to advertise and that... -- peace, marilyn Listen to my record at www.MarilynMillerMusic.com! When the music calls, I'll be there....ny

NEIL YOUNG – ARCHIVES VOLUME 3 A GUIDE: WHAT IT CONTAINS AND WHAT IS MISSING
3
Thanks to Robert Broadfoot for creating and sharing this. Here's his description: NYU GUIDE TO ARCHIVES VOL. 3 What is in it and what is missing Things are a little quiet in Neil Young land right now so perhaps it is a good time to chuck this document out there for the completists. It is a brief NYU review of where Archives Vol. 3 came from, what it finally contained, and almost more importantly what is missing! As always I have trawled a lot of sources for the information but the selection here is subjective, as are my own personal contributions of course. It is definitely a work in progress, so please do not hesitate to let me know of errors etc. for a revised second edition. Comments welcome! Neil fan on Jeopardy!
5
For any fans of the gameshow Jeopardy out there, the current champion is a huge Neil Young fan. On his first show, he talked about his guitar playing activity. On today's broadcast, Ken Jennings asked him how he learned to play guitar. He said it was by learning to play "every Neil Young song." He followed up by saying he's seen Neil live 31 times in the last 31 years. He won today's show too so he will be on tomorrow's show. His name is Will, not sure of his last name. The show tapes weeks in advance, so all this took place a while ago. Fun fact: I attended a taping of the Jeopardy game show earlier this year. Flew into LAX from Phoenix in the morning and back later that day after watching the taping. Great experience for a Jeopardy fan like me. Mike Expecting To Fly

Very sad to read that JoAnn passed away. She was always such a warmhearted, gracious person over the years, loved by so many people. She was Rustie of the Month back in July, 2014. Ian silver wings of morning

Dreamin' Man
Last night, with the moon full, I had a Neil dream. My husband and I were in a mall, going to what looked like a church service. Once inside, I looked around and saw Neil and spoke to him. After the church (or whatever it was) meeting was over, I lost sight of my hubby and ended up getting lost. Yep, I couldn't find my hubby, couldn't find the car...I was lost in the mall.

Across The Water blu ray
Watched this a few days ago, and wow... This one really stands out. A couple observations. If kind of goes along with Muddy Track and Year of the Horse in that they all combine interviews and live footage of Neil and Crazy Horse, and they're all about 10 years apart. All 3 give a good glimpse of how exhausting it must be to be on tour. Before you go onstage, afterwards, being interviewed, having to answer various questions, etc. Some of the footage from this was used in Year of the Horse. The stuff with Neil and the band getting stoned and burning some flowers in their hotel room. This one has some amazing versions of Too Far Gone, Cortez, Southern Man and Cowgirl In The Sand, among others. Ian silver wings of morning

Harvest Moon - A Gathering 2024-10-05

This was one terrific show. It was a benefit for The Painted Turtle https://www.thepaintedturtle.org/ and held on their campground. It provides free camp experiences for kids with serious medical needs. It was founded by Paul Newman and I believe Daryl Hannah is an active current supporter. The concert also benefits The Bridge School. This year the artists were Lily Meola, John Mayer, and Stephen Stills with Neil Young. I attended the benefit concert back in 2019 and the one that was held yesterday. Both were special experiences. Also unique during my time as a Rustie because I encountered exactly zero people I know from the Neil Young concert going gang I know. The setlist from Tom Hambleton's absolutely-essential-for-Neil-fans site sugarmtn.org will be at the end of this message. This was a Stills/Young band performance, a four-piece band featuring Corey McCormick on bass and vocals and Anthony Logerfo on drums. Other artists from previously in the day filled in here and there. It was great to see Neil so happy to be on-stage performing. The first surprise of theu day was the Stills penned classic Hung Upside Down. Not slick but still great to hear. There was a spirited attempt at the CSN song Helplessly Hoping. It's kind of hard to not try to hear Crosby/Nash on this song but this band was out there giving us their version. I gotta admit, Stills' vocals are a bit shakey, but I respect them for extending the effort. It was a real treat to hear Neil perform Field Of Opportunity. His voice was strong, his energy was high. (I know from mysugarmtn that it was the 5th time I've watched Neil play that tune.) He played some popular classics but the most memorable tunes of the night were the previously mentioned Field Of Opportunity, a wonderful version of Stills' Bluebird, and an encore performance of Vampire Blues as a 3-piece band (Stills stepped aside.) Being present at this show is a memory I will always cherish. Mike Expecting To Fly Painted Turtle Camp, Lake Hughes, California, USA Harvest Moon - A Gathering Stephen Stills & Neil Young 1.
