Sound quality of TOTW tree: 1/15/73

I don't know, folks. I got my copy yesterday, and was inspired to put it on
after Neil's set at Farm Aid tonight. I'm seven songs into it now and VERY
pleased. It's clean of clicks and pops, and I think the sound quality is
quite good for a 1973 audience recording. Maybe I haven't reached the noise
problem that's caused the controversy, or maybe I'm just not enough of an
audiophile to notice it.

Anyway, I wanted to express appreciation to Ian (who's been busting his butt
to get all these shows out to us), the others involved in preparing this
complete version of the 1973 Toronto show, and to Mike Barnes, a great
trader and a great guy, who was my branch.

Best,

Jim

Where is this alleged noise, anyway? I just listened to this again all
the way through, and I didn't hear any problems.

I'm with the two above, I think the thing is great and I don't hear any noise.

Hey ho,

I understand the need for perfection, and it's a shame to hear some noises
here and there on these fine shows. But to hear a bit of noise in-between
songs on a live show just might not ruin the experience.

I didn't notice it on mine, so I am sure it can't be of great significance.
At some point I will go and listen for the noise now that some people have
made a major "thing" out of it. It won't be enjoyable to listen to that way,
but I'll do it.

Is it possible that only some people got it this way, like maybe a branch
somewhere along the line did a little tinkering............

Or are there people out there that just look for faults in everything they
see or hear?
It would be nice if the audience was cut completely out of these shows and
there was no in-between lull between tracks to hear such
noises.......................

Dont retire your "Lonely Weekend" bootleg quite yet. The sound is most
prominently heard between songs, turn it up a bit, you cant miss it. Its a
swirling noise reminicent of a b-grade movie robot or some kind of computer
like noise. Im told it is the result of someone trying to add noise
reduction or hiss removal of somekind.

Thanks to all involved in getting the TOTW music out there, that Ocean Full
of Tree's website is truly a great thing.
