"Live Versions" Albums (cd's)

Shawn McCorkle

Hello all,

Elwyn came up with a great idea. It just gave me some projects to work
on. Being a completist, I'm going to put my stock to use and re-create all
the albums (the best I can) with live bootlegs for you that are interested.
And I'm not just going to use the tour versions they are from. They will
span throughout the years. No soundboards. Just audience recordings We know
that Neil has not performed all of his songs live. But......damn near!

My first project will be "Freedom : The Live Album" . I'll start on
this week and I'll have the playlist along with venue and date info. I will
distribute these to 5 people who will burn 5 copies each to spread around.

And yes Elwyn. I'll do Landing On Water next.

I've noticed a lot of comments that the live versions of the songs on
Landing On Water are better than the studio versions. Has anyone made
a compilation of songs from that album, sequenced the same as the
album, but using with live versions instead? I'd be interested in
hearing that.

----
Or it could be an idea for the next Rusted Guitars Tribute album. :-)

Bye
Elwyn

Shawn, great idea. I'm wondering what you're going to do
about the songs that have never been played live. Just
leave them out? Use Rustie tributes?

For example, here is the track listing for LOW:

Weight Of The World
Violent Side
Hippie Dream
Bad News Beat
Touch The Night
People On The Street
Hard Luck Stories
I Got A Problem
Pressure
Drifter

As far as I know, four of those 10 songs have never been
performed live; Weight Of The World, People On The Street,
Pressure, and Drifter. It's going to be an awfully short
"album".

What about substituting live songs from this era that didn't make LOW
or Life? There was a couple of songs on ABD from 1984 with the
Horse - we could use them. At least it would be Neil. I think
Rustie versions in the middle of a Neil comp would sound out of
place. Just MO.
